Outback Proven, a new Australian-‐owned company has entered the US overlanding market with the goal of providing the very best 4x4 equipment from "The Land Down Under". Directors, Brad McCarthy of MAXTRAX and Rod Jackson of Kaymar 4WD Accessories have joined forces to create Outback Proven.
Brad McCarthy explains the logic behind the move. "We did an extensive tour through the central Australian Outback last year with a few small Aussie 4WD equipment manufacturers, with the goal of getting professional photos and videos of all our gear being used in real-‐world scenarios to use in our marketing. All of our products are Australian designed and made and we all regularly put them to the test on expeditions to the remote and challenging areas of Australia. We were sitting around a campfire in the Simpson Desert one night, solving the world's problems and got onto the topic of the American overlanding market.
Each of the companies agreed its difficult to make headway in the US individually, so a suggestion that we 'team up', to more effectively showcase the high quality range of Australian made 4WD products to American overlanders was made.
"After all, if a 4WD product survives down here, it will cope with anything." Everyone agreed that this was a good strategy; hence Outback Proven was born.
Including MAXTRAX and Kaymar 4WD Accessories product, so far we are pleased to have on-‐board the following companies; Rhino Rack, Lightforce Performance Lighting, Piranha, Long Range Automotive and Hema Maps, with others to follow.
The next few months were spent devising the brand and logo, organising warehouse space, building a website and finally employment of Ben Meddows in Las Vegas, to be our "man on the ground" in the US.
We aim to become "The place to go for quality Australian 4x4 equipment" in the United States.
Outback Proven's official launch is at Overland Expo in Mormon Lake, Arizona on May 18, 2012. Please drop by, say "G'day!" and enjoy a refreshing beverage on us.
