Overview
Many adventures lead to areas where fuel and water sources are rare and often unpredictable.  With most expedition equipped vehicles, it is necessary to carry additional fuel, and water in containers.  Scepter’s Military Fuel Cans (MFC) provides a solution to providing the additional fuel and water storage needed.

Scepter was founded in 1949, and developed “Scepterene” a resin that is impervious to gasoline and began making fuel cans in the sixties.  In the mid 80’s, Scepter designed a three handled polyethylene fuel can derived from the original 20 Liter"Jerry-Can" designed by the German army during WWII for use in the blitzkrieg of Europe.  This can proved itself to be a vast improvement over the previous metal cans.  These new cans were tested, and were quickly accepted as the new fuel can standard for Canadian Military Forces converting previous requirements from metal to plastic cans.  In the 1990s, the US Military, also tested and adopted the Scepter fuel can as their new standard.

In military live fire tests, these fuel cans were shown to melt and burn without exploding, making them significantly safer than their metal counterparts. They exceed United Nations Transportation of Dangerous Goods Model Regulations.  Scepter's MFC cans are built to exacting U.S. Military specifications (MIL-spec).  Rugged in design, Scepter’s MFC’s are built using high molecular weight, high density polyethylene featuring seamless all-plastic construction.

They are tough, lightweight, permanently colored and will never rust.  Scepter Military Fuel Cans are perfect for overland use with a weight of only 5-7 pounds, measuring at 18 1/2" high; 14" wide; 6 1/2” deep.  Using a seamless injection molding, the Scepter MFC’s can withstand the weight of a vehicle, and still be suitable for continued use.

The MFC Fuel Cans feature three handles on the top of each can, each one rated to support the weight of a full can.  The large filler mouth is threaded on both the inside and the outside to provide quick filling and out flow.  The large easy-open twist cap has a form fitting rubber seal that is specially formulated to help prevent leaks and minimize replacement intervals.  The cap is secured by a large check strap that is color coded and stamped with a “P” or a “D” in accordance with DOT regulation for transportation of combustible fluids.  The large easy-open twist cap, internal air vent, low-noise handling, and rapid pouring rate with Scepter's high-flow spouts, deliver superior performance.

The Scepter 3/4” high-flow spout provides a quick fuel transfer with minimum leaking.   The long clear hose is designed to withstand fuels and will last as long as the tanks.  As an added security the filler spout has a built in screen to filter out any contaminations that might have gotten into the fuel.

The MFC water cans are very similar to the fuel cans, featuring the large easy-open twist cap.  However, the cap on the water can feature a built in locking system integrated to the check strap to prevent the cap from accidental loss.  The water cap is also equipped with a smaller screw off cap, and a screw open vent for easy pouring.

Every Scepter MFC has the content and the capacity of the container clearly labeled on the side of can.  Scepter cans are designed to fit most racks designed to accept a military style Jerry can such as Blitz Style racks, and are right at home in Adventure Trailers Heavy Duty Fuel/Water Can Holders.

If you’re looking for the ultimate in durability in a fuel container, then Scepter fuel cans and Scepter gas cans are a great option.  These MFC plastic cans have proven themselves to withstand rigorous tests including: fire testing (with the can full of gasoline), drop testing, and being driven over. These tests prove that the Scepters are so tough that no other plastic can surpass them.
