Kind of related to photography, at least to those of us working in video (desertdude).

Apple is planning a "surprise presentation" for the Final Cut User groups at macWorld.

Shake replacement? Blu-Ray support? Final Cut Extreme?

We'll have to wait until Jan 16th.

I'm not quite sure what the secret is but it is safe to expect blu-ray support on the upcoming new macs.

:Astrologist: Apple has always been the masters of marketing. This years Macworld will not disappoint. I'll be in Cali then and I have a few invites to be at Macworld, past events have been overwhelming (read; high geek factor) to attend. ;)

According to Michael Horton of the lafcpug. (http://www.lafcpug.org)

Just to set the record straight, there is no truth to the rumor that Apple will use the SuperMeet for a product announcement. I'm one of the producers of this event.

Those that know me know I use the phrase 'Super Secret" all the time. Have for years. It's a take off on "super meet." I use it when I honestly dont know what the presenter is presenting. And in this case I honestly don't know what Apple is presenting. Whatever it is, it wont be a new product. SuperMeets are about teaching us something. The FCP team always uses these SuperMeets for that purpose. Not for product announcements.

Going to be a heck of a show I can tell you that.

My 2.7 G5 is still plugging along just fine. But this new 8 core sounds sweet.

With my company's "corporate discount" I can get that price down to $19,600. That's with no monitors though.

Didn't see any Blu-ray options. :(

Still a powerful machine.

Its good to see the basic prices getting down towards that of a PC, there will always be a premium for a Mac even with the same hardware but its a lot better than it used to be. Any decent dual quad core PC will cost almost the same as the Max and a high end PC like like a BOXX will probably cost the same across the entire range and not be significantly different.
