I was cruising the B&H site and found this!:yikes:

Canon Super Telephoto (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/800557508-USE/Canon__Super_Telephoto_1200mm_f_5_6L.html)

I wonder what it cost new!:Wow1:

Check out the cost to ship it :D Even UPS Ground is over $500 to me. You would think at $99k they would just have you buy a couple plane tickets :D

I think the price has gone up because the lens is rare. There are only about a dozen of them and I think Canon Professional Services owns two and Sports Illustrated owns two. I recall they weigh about 30 lb. and essentially every part of the lens is a one-off. I'm not completely sure, but I think the new price (when they were still "in production) was closer to $60,000 - $90,000

Man that is a monster. Would love to see photos taken with it.

WOW. Just wow, almost 3 feet long and over 36 lbs. you'd need a second person to help hold the thing. I now know why it has handles on both sides.

I got a kick out of this:
"Remember that the XL1 EOS adapter multiplies the focal length of any EOS lens by a factor of 7.2, so this 1200mm lens had an effective 35mm equivalent focal length in the neighborhood of 8640mm, which isn't a lens anymore, but a telescope"
