View Full Version : Recommended shop for suspension install in Phx area ...

I used to do my own suspension intalls, and the Tacoma looks pretty straight forward (way more so than twin I-beam and SLA IFS kits I did on our Exploders). But, alas, with three kids and a career, I haven't the time to spend a day wrenching ... so I think I'll just pay someone else to do it. :D

Given the huge contingent of Phoenix area residents and Tacoma/4Runner/FJC owners on ExPo, I figured there has to be some recommended shops in the Valley for suspension work. I used Desert Rat (Tempe) do the Skyjacker c/os on our Liberty and they did OK; it was their first KJ, and they forgot to tighten a strut bolt, which resulted in maddening clunking. Still, not sure I'd go back (and I mainly used them for convenience anyway).

I'll be ordering full OME kit (with 886s and Dakars) and might proactively get a Tom Woods 1-piece driveline (although I've no idea on lead time for orders). Would love if alignment could be done at or near the shop as well.

I live in Chandler, work in Tempe and would be willing to use just about an East Valley located shop (from Scottsdale to Chandler and out to Mesa/Gilbert).

Recommendations?

Thanks

4 wheelers has a great reputation...never had them do work on any of my rigs though....and I wouldn't blame you for avoiding Desert Scat. I can't even bring myself to repeat the recommendation they gave me the last time I was in there trying to buy shocks for my jeep.

What about Toys by Troy, I know they specialize in jeeps but when I was at his shop last april he had Rovers, Toyotas, Jeeps and rock buggies going on and he is a really cool guy seems to be stand up. He helped turn a bad situation into good experience for me.

I hear there's some wrenching going on over at FlyingWil's house, but you gotta steer clear of the Hi Lift... :jump:
