Hello my fellow adventurers!

Well, I am going to be in San Diego next week (4/17-19) and have a free night on the 18 for a dinner or group meet-up.

Maybe something around 7:00 in the downtown area, as I will be at the Conference Center.

Any suggestions? Anyone available? :chowtime:

I drive back to AZ on Wed. and leave for Morocco Thursday morning.

Hey, you'll be in my 'hood!

I'll be up for it for sure!

I can make a restaurant recommendation if i know what kind of food/scene we are looking for. Unfortunately many of the downtown restaurants aren't that great, but survive on the unknowing tourists.

In the gaslamp proper my favorite place to go is the Gaslamp Strip Club...(as in New York Strip) It's a steak place, really. And a grill-your-own steak place at that!

For more upscale dining we really like chive (also our favorite upscale bar). The food's not cheap but its good, without being too chi-chi.

If you want to venture out of downtown a bit, the Little Italy area (basically north downtown) has great restaurants. With Buon Appetito being our favorite. Just down the street from there (and on the same block as our place) is Indigo Grill, which has some really fun menu oddities.

I could keep going...!

I like the Little Italy idea :) :eatchicke

Oh, and I like all foods... I just dont like to eat at chain restaurants.

great!

i guess we'll just see how many we've got coming. i can make reservations if needed.

i wish i could offer accommodations but 460 sf doesn't work well with house guests.

Very Cool! I am in!

May i suggest Mona Lisa? It is on the edge of little italy as has all of your standard italian fare, killer chicken parm, easily accessable for everyone and they SHOULD have enough parking for our rigs (provided there is less then 8 or so) so we can oogle!

If we go downtown, we will be forced to park in the $10 sketchy lots and we loose the ability to oogle at each others rigs!! :D

Hmmm, chicken parm and rig oogling! :D :D :D

What time works for you Scott?

looking forward to it!

p.s. luckily the padres are on the road tuesday! :D

Scott Brady
04-15-2006, 04:41 PM
Sounds perfect. I would love to do some rig oogling. (unfortunately, I will have a rental car)

:victory:

If someone could make a reservation there (maybe Monday, once we know the count), and provide some directions, that would be great :D

Boston Mangler
04-15-2006, 05:54 PM
Will the rental have 4L? :D

Here is a link to some info!

Time? (later the better for me!) Others?

Not sure if they take reservations, i will try to call and ask.

I pick up my truck on Tuesday......and it's been sitting outside all apart for two months! So it's embarrassingly filthy! (is that a word/?....hehe)

May just be too embarrassed to show up.:o

Sounds like fun though!

At least I know where you guys will be if I can join you!

....YES!

I looked it up and it's a word!.....hehe

emˇbarrassˇingˇly adv.
Synonyms: embarrass, abash, chagrin, discomfit, disconcert, faze, rattle
1 These verbs mean to cause someone to feel self-conscious and uneasy: were embarrassed by their child's tantrum; felt abashed at the extravagant praise; will be chagrined if my confident prediction fails; was discomfited by the sudden personal question; is disconcerted by sarcastic remarks; refuses to be fazed by your objections; isn't easily rattled before an audience.

I think the coolest vehicle in the Mona Lisa parking lot that evening was Justin's Rubicon...not the $350,000 Maybach parked right next to it!
