Well, I just installed and figured out City Navigator for Mac. Great and all...

So, I happily scooted to REI and got a NUVI 250W.

Brought it home to get it setup - NOTHING. None of my Garmin software will find it.

Ideas?

What Mac OS are you running?

Latest Leopard, of course!

Does it mount as a drive when you connect it? (I believe it should since you can play MP3's on that Nuvi right?)

I have a 1 gig SD card in it - hooked up the USB cable - and nothing....

I get no disk mounted, and the Garmin software does not see the unit.

The GPS seems to be working just fine, however. I just can't load my waypoints and routs.

It should mount as a drive automatically. Just to ask the stupid question, is the Nuvi turned on when you connect it?

Second, what version of firmware does the Nuvi have? It is possible that the unit you bought has an older firmware that is missing a Mac update. Do you have a Windows PC that you can run Web updater on?

Live and learn - I just swaped out USB cables - now using one with a filter inline. I now am showing the Garmin Disc image...:coffee:

Now to see if it will update...

BTW - thanks for your input!
