I feel out of my element making such a request. What the hell, everyone else is doing it. And everybody knows I just follow the crowd because that's easier.

It's margarita night at my home desk, and I'm feeling f i n e. Raise your glass and show your Nissan, por favor. Whaddya got? Xterra? Frontier? Pathfinder? Titan? Armada (that'd be a big surprise)? X-Trail? Patrol? Or something old skewl?

(Is the Pathfinder called something else in Europe, Australia, etc? I can't recall.)

Anyway, my contribution is attached - she's a 2005 D40 Frontier, black as an insurrection out of a certain epic by John Milton. Less the desert pinstripes.

Where's yours?

I used to go up to the Sangre de Cristos from Lewisville and always hated having Texas plates on my truck. Sometimes you didn't even have to pass on the shoulder to get the middle finger from someone.....:sombrero:

I suppose I should take some pictures of my Xterra and post them soon...or should I wait for my 22in wheels w/ spinners?

Hope so, because I'm gonna do the same. Very, very cool Safari.

Harlan , KY...

Whew! Bloody Harlan, whatta town. I'm really happy to see it turning into a SE off-road mecca. That place had a lot to live down but the area is really scenic. Cool Nismo too, my favorite name for a truck.

Thanks for the compliment. I love Cruisers too and am a member of the local Cruiser Club. The Safari was in my price range and could do what I needed a vehicle to do: be a DD, a wheeler, road tripper and haul at least 6-7 people, a dog and their extras and do it economically. I still need to do a suspension lift and some others stuff when I get the funds.

Details in sig line, but will have 3" suspension lift added this summer with steering upgrades, 16" wheels and 235 85 tires. Roof rack, compressor, etc. By the end of the year, I expect to have atleast a rear locker, front and rear bumpers with tire carrier. Maybe a fridge and RTT.:) And maybe by next year I'll have a Series II 109 Land Rover or FJ40 or 80series Land Cruiser to start fiddling with.

This tuck is from Canada. He comes down every year to participate in goneMOAB (Gathering of Nissan Enthusiasts) It is a quality built rig, and performs as good as it looks. The gentlemen who owns it is also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. There should have been a white pathfinder with him, also built very well. There were a bunch or well built rigs this year. Once I get things off my camera I will see if I can post some up.

Wow, somehow I have totally skipped over this thread. It's good to see some more Nissans out there. Now that I have gotten out of motorcycles I hope to put a little more effort into building my truck up, nothing extreme, just something to make those future excursions a little more fun and comfortable for the family. After having our second child 3 weeks ago, the family and I packed up and went camping down in Gulf Shores this past weekend for a trial run. Right now the only thing I have done to it is put a tonneau cover on it, rack attached to the top of the cover using Yakima Products. The tires are 235/85/16 bfg's, and the wheels are a spare set of factory steel wheels that I picked up on craigslist and had them powder coated. The dent in the door came from a mall crawling trip to REI. Came out of the store and a buggy had apparently rolled down a hill and nailed the side of the door, good times no doubt.

PML(calmini and SAW bars), Bil's all around(including steering stabilizer), 31" BFG ATs, roof lights, roof basket, custom rear tire carrier.... thats all I can think about off the top of my head.

Pretty moderate really.

Heres a few of my old '89 Pathfinder. I put her through hell, and she always brought me back home. Frustrating the lack of after market support for her, but in the end she had custom front and rear bumpers, 2.5" of lift, 32" BFG M/T's, front and rear Air lockers (before there was a kit to put one in the front!), custom skid plates, and many more custom goodies. Unfortunately, I think the new owner neutered her, and shackled her to a life on paved roads..

Hey all. I just thought I'd add to the impressive list of awesome Nissans. Of course since they are Nissans, they are by default Awesome. Anyhow, this is my "new" truck. A 2003 CC/SC. It had some things added to it before I bought it such as a lift, 33's, Calamini bumper, Warn winch, PIAA lights, mean green alt, K&N filter and receiver hitch. I just got my 'nest ( wildernest ) mounted and took her camping.

http://inlinethumb43.webshots.com/42538/2908997260103602031S500x500Q85.jpg (http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2908997260103602031NBZAzR)

Here is our site with a tarp over the 'nest because she leaks a little and a huge t-storm was heading our way. Worked great and I loved the extra cover at the rear for cooking and keeping dry.

Here's a shot of the back of the 'nest and our camp site.

Here's a shot of my old truck,,, 195k miles, which I loved but wanted more room, with a better shot of the 'nest.

I likey this idea! I had been thinking about doing something similar on top of my undercover tonneau. It seemed like it would be strong enough to hold a basket. I'd love to learn more about how you did this. Do you have a build thread for it?

I like that bumper. Who makes it?

It is a Kennesaw Mountain Accessory bumper.... "wincher" or something like that. I was happy with customer service there, unlike some. The fit & finish of the bumper is rather... well, meh... but I can't argue with what I wanted: big, ugly, strong, and some holes for lights. That's what I got :)

Michelin LTX M/S 235/85R16 10 ply tires, 6 inch longer wheel base than a Nissan X and 14 inch shorter wheel base than a King Cab shortbox, sleeps 2 or 3 comfortably so no need for an RTT, lots of cargo room so no need for a roof basket. Comm is a digital cell booster, some 30 mile Motorola hand phones and a rental sat phone when needed for some areas.

Still a work in progress with a custom ARB style aluminum or ss bumper, some stealth LED driving lights and probably an expedition type gear / kayak trailer to follow. What would be really great would be to retrofit some 6 x 139.7 mm hubs to use some readily available bulletproof motorsport offroad wheels.

Nice truck. Looks like a nasty hill.

I mentioned in a previous post in this thread - it's a Kennesaw Mtn Accessories bumper (not sure I got the name right). I think it's called the "Wincher" or something like that. The price was right and the construction is beefy. It is heavy and has a fit and finish that leaves a little to be desired. But it does the job.

I'm running Sway A Way Race Runner shocks from PRG. I have them turned to lift the front ~3 inches. Don't think I'll go much higher than that ever. Visibility out of the Titan isn't the greatest to begin with. When you start lifting, it gets worse.

Here's a picture of the shocks (with the ICON shocks - not to scale obviously)... FWIW, I'm really happy with the ride quality of the new front suspension. Much nicer than stock with a height I'm more happy with in terms of clearance, but I don't have to go crazy with a tall lift to get that big of a performance gain.

I currently have a PRG 1.5" leveling kit in the front, but was looking at replacement coil-overs.

Yeah, it can be that bad. I actually had to bail out of that "road" because I didn't have M/T tires. The truck behind me was only 4x2...The YD25DDTi diesel engine is a gem. Once the engine is warm you would be hard pressed to identify it as a diesel from its (lack of ) clatter, vibration or the exhaust. Engine braking on descents is brilliant, on 4-lo even sleep-inducing. The best way to describe the low end grunt is the feel of the torquing action in your hand of a power drill turning a tight screw.

Just starting to really enjoy this Forum, and saw the Nissan heading. Here are some old school pics of a poker run I ran with a Jeep Club back in 96. They didn't think I'd make it through, let alone tow a couple guys out of places. The nice thing about the Pathfinder was being able to roll up my windows, turn it to recirc, and listen to the stereo as all the CJ's were sucking the trail dust.

Okay, here are a few pics of my rack setup. It's very basic, but it works.
I plan on getting some heavy canvas or soft top material to cover the rack frame. That'll happen pretty soon I'll post more when that goes on.

I opted NOT to use tubing for the runners, because it was easier to mount the basket to a flat surface.

In Indonesia you can have it any color you like as long as it is black or silver. The upshot is that the only engine available is the TDI 2.5L powerplant.

Bump!
Here is my rig on St. Patrick's Day. I took a snow day and went backcountry skiing. Yes there are two other cars in this photo. under the rocket box the lump in the snow is a white Subby and just infront of the shed is a ford focus.

2007 Xterra Off Road, Auto. Will hit 50,000 miles in a few days, still loving it. Changed all fluids at 36,000, had a Fuel Sending Unit replaced at 40,000 (no charge, thank you Nissan), and a new set of Goodyear Silent Armors at 46,000, otherwise only gas and oil changes (synthetic) every 5,000. Have spent many a night sleeping in the back in campgrounds, woods, and the side of the road.

Ok we have some AWESOME Nissans here on the board. Creek you truck is amazing, I love the way it looks (and probably wheels). I really like what Nissan did with this gen of trucks compared to the last body style (not my cup of tea looks wise). I hate to say it, but I hope that Toyota steals that step in teh back bumper idea for the next gen 4Runner (some spy shots have indicated they might)

ANyway, nice truck Creek...

Sumba is indeed a very interesting place from a cultural perspective, and it has beaches to die for. Here are two more Navara-in-Sumba pix:

hehe, there aren't many places to legally wheel around houston. there's General Sam's in Huntsville, and as you get further away from houston: Brazos Valley Off Road Ranch (Bryan), Shiloh Ridge (Alto), Barnwell Mountain (Gilmer), Katemcy Rocks (Mason, reopen in February '10), Trees Ranch (Leakey), and the list goes on and on. everything is far in texas, so prepare for a road trip if you want to go wheeling.

check out Texas Nissan Off Road (www.tnt4x4club.com) for more info on our monthly get-togethers, wheelin' trips, and info on where to wheel.

Full beam axles, four coils and four discs.

Not knocking the Yoto's but these are tougher.

Not mine. Just some photos of a SAC'd Nissan that joined our TTORA Anza run earlier this year. One of my favorites along with many posted here. Not sure if he's a member here or not.

Yes Dave, 4.2TD 5 spd manual.

It is surprising the tray hasn't caught on over there as they are very handy.
Mine has fold down sides that can be removed to prevent damage when out playing.

The driveline is so much beefier including the CV's than the Landcruisers.

HOLY!!!!!!!!!! SexyChick that SAS'd Fronty has some GREAT flex. Nicely done, who built/what is the suspension set-up on it. That's one cool Nissan for sure. I rarely see SAS'd Nissans but this one is very well done. Looks like great, thoughtfull fabwork. And most importantly it performs. Now get that tranny issue fixed so you don't loose it on a hill or something wierd. Well done on that truck. The new Fronty looks awesome too. Those trucks have definatly grown on me in a major way.

Very cool, if it's the 4.2 + manual then it's litteraly the TOP of the Nissan heap in terms of beef and strength. Those trucks have that massive H-something 223 Rear or 233 axle??? That thing is massive. I never really got a look-over of the front axle, what are it's specs??? All the patrols that pooped out on us were Auto's (that were eaither under cooled or had fluid retention issues) or had the newer 3.0TD that really really liked to pop HG's at the WORST time (is there really a good time eh ;) ) That seemed like not enought engine hauling that heavy of a truck to me. Oddly enough I rarely saw Utes of your Generation (I love those...)around and only the odd GU(not sure of the body/model des. letters)??? The kind of square one that was also a Ford Maverick or something. There's a guy here in the states with one and I actually really love the body shape of those. I just don't know all the intrecate model designations with Patrols like I do Cruisers so it's tougher for me to know what I'm looking at.

I lived in S. Central QLD for almost a year and like I said I LOVE UTE BEDS!!!!!!. The simplicity of the fold-down slide off pin set-up is just...well it's my kind of simple, functional genius. If I had a P/U it would have a ute bed on the back of it for sure.

Your ute in particular looks impressive. I really like it, perfect stance, looks like it get's used like trucks do down there eh. It's sad to see all the 4wd's here in the States that will never be in 4wd or even a hint of an off-road situation. Over there I loved living in a smaller town where everyone drove old beat up Toyo's and Nissy's that looked like they were extra vehicles in a Mad Max film. Got anyomore bush pics to stir my heart a bit and make me get off my laurels and get back??? I miss the Bluegums and the Ironbarks, and the tea trees and the cicada's chirping away every morning...

Anyway, love your country, hope to get back sooner as opposed to later and I like your Patrol too.

Cheers
