After months of telling myself i'm gonna get some 255x85's on my truck, i finally pulled the trigger and bought some Trxus MT's:wings: . So far i am very pleased, night and day difference over my old MT/R's. These don't slide all over the road, are much quieter. and i can already tell the difference in power with less rolling resistance, also the wheel turns much easier now. I did have to add some spacers in the rear to avoid hitting the springs. pics...

Nice upgrade. Welcome to the club, I know you will like them. You are right I felt like I had on a 31" tire with how little they affected my acceleration and turning. Great size and a nice shot.

What was the width of your old MTR's? You're truck is pretty tall, so I'll be interested to hear if you feel any less "stable" when climbing or off-camber.
I've got a set on order for my FJ40 - should have 'em mounted some time this summer.

My MT/R's were 12.50's. and i'll be sure to post up how they do, as soon as i hit the trail.

Just a complete sidebar, but did you use the Yakima bolt top loader brackets for your rear rack gutter mounts? Just curious if they are leaking for you or with some silicone are they solid? I am planning on doing the same and wanted to get some info. Thanks much

I actually used the yakima wide body add a gutter mount. Link (http://yakima.com/Product.aspx?Number=8008001) it doesn't leak that i know of. i'm not really that thrilled with this setup. I am going to use some UHMW-PE plastic, basically the stuff plastic cutting boards are made of, make some spacers and bolt my rack straight through the roof. then i'll add some silicone to make it water tight and call it good. the mount might work better on a leer top, but i wouldn't recommend it one the 4runner shell.

Nice... Your truck and mine are TWINS!!!!!! I now know what my Runner will look like with the full length basket.
I'm really looking forward to going to the 33x9.50's. I'd go with 255's, but I don't want to go to new rims to get'm.

Honestly mate, I'd just use half of the clamps as feet and them put the other half inside and seal it up. Does that make sence? There's a thread about it over on Yotatech about this exact kind of mount. I'll see if I can scrounge up a link.
Cheers

I really like your truck as well. Before i had the extension i had my rack mounted just like yours.
i had 15" rims and i managed to trade someone straight accross for the ones i have on there now. Every time i look at my truck i have to do a double take i'm not used to the chrome!
I think i get what you're talking about. And i actually was out working on the truck today and i did just that. I was going to use the spacers but turns out i didn't need them. So the rack is just bolted to the roof now. I hung off the back of it and i didn't hear any creaking or cracking. and it seams much more sturdy. so i'm happy with it.
