We had a nice weekend, with some fun trekking, rock climbing and rock crawling.
Topped off with some great food (thanks for the cobbler Brittan) :eatchicke
Post pictures here :)
What can I say, I had a great time Yesterday doing very little more than sitting on my *** all day. I learned how terribly soft and out of shape I am this morning when I woke up with sore muscles wher I forgot there were muscles. All from 1/2 maybe 3/4 miles of climbing around before everyone got back from the morning trek. Ah, it's pathetic. Regardless, I awarded myself this morning with some cheddar eggs and 1/2 lb of everyone favorite meat... BACON!
It was great to meet everyone who I hadn't met before and see everyone else again who already knew how much of an *** I am. The scenery was beautiful, the eats were great but the company is what topped the whole thing off. Thanks to Kevin's mom for the teriaki beef and to Brittan for his little taste of heaven to top off the night.
I can't wait to get back out with everyone again, 'cept next time I promise to grace everyone with a full night of snoring from my tent.

I think my little set-up facilitated at least five showers and more than a few naps. I was most happy with the functionality as a whole, though the warmer temps really made the fridge crank. My older Engel is less efficient than the newer models, so even with 2.4 amps from the panels, I could not keep up in a 24 hour period. Need to evaluate options now.

Scott, i noticed a considerable difference when i installed my transit bag. It keeps the cold air in and the hot air out and does work quite well. Didnt see if you had one or not, but i recommend it! :)
For a comparison, this weekend, i had mine set at 2 (almost freeze) and i slept in the truck both nights and only heard it kick on once for about 15 minutes the whole night. Last time i slept in the truck withOUT the bag, the fridge ran almost all night (same setting in similar ambient temps).

Dude...
Here is what you missed...
Take peaches in water and drain them. Place the peaches in the bottom of a Dutch oven. Take a yellow cake mix and add water. Make the mix a thick consistency but not too thick...this takes experience to get right. Pour the cake mix over the peaches.
Put 70% of the coals on top of the oven and 30% under. Cook until the top of the cake is golden brown. Make sure the cake is cooked all the way through.
Optional - take a stick of butter and slice it into thin pads. Place the pads on top of the cake before baking. Sorry I didn't do this option on the camp out. Trust me...its heaven.
I like to put nuts on top too...again it's an option.
Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
You can use any pie filling if you don't like peaches, although clean up is harder.
Thanks to all for the kind words on the cobbler. I'd like to say thanks to everyone for making it such a relaxing weekend. It was good to see old friends and make new ones. I had a good time and look forward to the next outing.
Scott, thanks for the use of the shower...what a setup.

Special thanks to Chris for the perfect airport-to-airport service! Riding in the BajaTaco Dream-machine is a memorable treat every time!
Thanks to all the experienced climbers for your patience! I know I took a lot of valuable rope time, but I can't believe how much you taught me during those few climbs. I really wish we'd had some more time/opportunity.
Thanks Scott for the use of the base camp lodge for shower and nap.I also learned a little about the sandbagging that goes on in rock climbing. There were those who claimed to be beginners, but once on the wall they started to race each other.

Great photos! I can't wait to see some from Mark and Randy.
This was a wonderful trip. Thanks to everyone for making it a great time. Some sweet 4-wheeling into and out of the camp site, a nice hike into a couple of canyons, and some rock climbing on absolutely gorgeous rock formations made for a really well-rounded weekend adventure. Scott, thanks for the shower and tequila tomatoes :chowtime: Brittan, thanks for the cobbler and the tour of the bouldering competition area. To all of the seasoned climbers, thanks for the time and effort you spent with us newbs.

Hey, it was great to see Bman (bacon man) and John again. You guys really need to camp out more often! But it was fun watching your alien spaceship rock-lit monster machines leaving camp Sat. night. Randy and Linda, it was good to see you again too. Nice expedition rig you have going there, and a nice new camera too. It was really cool to meet the Boston Mangler (Kevin) and Brett (CruiserBrett at IH8MUD). You guys are a kick. Thanks for spotting us through all of the poison oak. And it sure was fun watching the 80 crawl along the trails. Hey Uwe! Good to have you out again. You are always welcome to fly n' ride with the airline of your choice to get to AZ and the bajataco machine to get you to the trailhead.

SWEET PICS CHRIS! Thanks for posting
Chris, I agree 110% that we need to get out and camp more often. Saturday made me realize that there's so much out there that I'm missing. Beyond the exercise (which we all know I can use), there's so much great comraderie(sp?) that I'm missing out on. I was thinking about it on SUnday. There's all these great people out there that I hardly know yet consider them friends. It's good to actually spend time with them and face to face and build those friendships into more than what they are behind a keyboard.
I can't tell you how much I envy those who can make the time to do the weeklong adventures all over the world. Hopefully someday I will be in a position to be able to do that. Until then, I need to make a concerted effort to get out more often.
