a co-worker and I played hooky yesterday and went to Silver Lake on Highway 88 in the California Sierras, elevation is around 7200 feet. the weather forecast was for thunderstorms during the weekend so I wanted to beat the lightning storms. it was in the low 30's all day and started snowing around noon and snowed steadily until we left around 4 in the afternoon. we caught and released rainbow trout all day, first we trolled using a variety of lures then when it started snowing we anchored up close to the boat launch because the snow made for poor visiblitly on the water and the snow stung like needles while trolling.
here is a picture of the lake early in the day:

Brrrrrrr.

The best part of that day would have been the warm fire and a bit of some adult beverage to warm yur innards in camp.

with the insulated coveralls, wool cap, and heavy Sorel insulated boots with wool socks I never got cold! we were in my boat right next to the highway, I am sure more than a few people thought we were crazy to be out in the snow fishing!

I also fished for trout in Central Calif but at a much lower elevation, I can't tell you where ;) , no snow and shirt sleeves all day.

That's my buddy getting his second fish ever on a fly, he lost his grip on the first one which was actually the biggest fish between us all day...oh well.

I think I need to clean the lens on cell phone.
