That's exactly how I felt three months ago! Can't wait to see pics of your new camper on your truck.

Congrats... you'll love it! Alice and I are just wrapping up a 9 day trip with our Hawk. Having a FWC is like having another truck though. You end up making mods to it along the way to better suit your needs. So far in the last few months that we have had ours (used 2002 that we were lucky to find in Phoenix) we have added more battery capacity, redesigned the seat bench, added a fantastic fan, added a Swampy Evap unit, added a Shady Boy Awning, and added a power inverter to power/charge any needed electrical items. It is SOOO much better than tent camping. Even better than the RTT that we used to use. I think the biggest advantage is that you feel much more secure in foul weather, especially windy conditions.

Does this mean you won't be updating your 'FWC's found on Craigslist' thread anymore? I really liked that one.....:coffee:

Congrats on pulling the trigger. Now just sit back an wait for the impact.

The used market has slowed kcowyo.....and on top of that I simply HAD TO take a break after ordering the new one. With my luck *the* unit would have showed up that next day for 7K...so I figured I'd give CRAZEDLIST a break for a few days...just in case!

aqnyone can do it though...so hey...don't be shy folks!

Understandable. :REOutArchery02:

Figures as the warmer weather gets here, the used ones will be harder to come by. I still checked online for months after buying mine to re-affirm that I had gotten a good one for a good price. I also just like to look.

Will you drive out to CA to take delivery or are they bringing it to you? What options did you go with? Remind us what truck you're putting it on?

Go ahead and talk to us about it. You'll feel a lot better once you talk about it...... :lurk:

:wings: OK, kcowyo...you talked me into a bit of the old "FWC Anticipation Therapy"...

My truck is a stock 2004 Tundra 4x4 Double Cab w/50K miles. I purchased it new in Sept 2004. The only things I've added to it @ this point are a SnugTop, a cargo rack, and a pair of running boards. (to minimize the impacts of the mag chloride/snow/ice/rocks).

In anticipation of the Hawk I purchased a set of Supersprings online last week that should arrive anyday now.

As for the options on the Hawk - I basically loaded it up...leaving off only the Yak rack...the awning...and the stereo. Interior is white w/ chestnut fabric.

I left off the rack for fuel economy/height and to force a bit of minimalization in all of this endeavor. I need to take LESS crap...not more!

I left off the awning because I am looking at creating a shade cloth system that will shade the *entire* truck/camper for the same/less weight...not just one side. The current thinking is to assemble a modular system that can be tailored to the spot/weather of each trip. That awning is "too damn dinky" according to the boss...someone who requires ample shade or things won't go well.

I left off the stereo because it's a Jensen..and because for the same $$ I can ramp up the existing stereo in the truck with a subbie and an amp and it'll be loud enough I can hear it INSIDE the camper of I so desire it. LOL.

I'm loving seeing the mods/dinette/etc...but it'll probably be a few trips before I think about chopping into the new camper. LOL.

are we there yet?

Pat
