This is my best set up yet. But it's for a longer stay in one place which I normally don't like to do.
That's my buddy Jerry and his stock Zuk.
So...it goes.....
My truck.........
Jerry's Day Screen with tarp floor......
Jerry's Tent.......
Jerry's Zuk.........
I sleep in my truck so I pull it up just under the edge of the day screen to help keep the dew or rain out of my truck. My tailgate becomes a table for the day screen area.
This is way too overdone for me. Normally I just stop at the end of the day at the best place I can find....sleep in my truck....then head out the next morning when I'm ready. But because of this...I can pack up and be off in under 5 min.

Here are a few shots.
One is from a wet 3 day stay on the Pacific coast (Queen Charlotte Islands), with poly tarp over a tent, and Kelty 'Sunshade' over the table. More recently I've been using a Kelty Noah 12 tarp (diamond wing) over the dining area.
Another is from a forest service site above Telluride (Alta Lakes), again, rainy weather. In this case the 2 of us slept in the Element, and I rigged a wing tarp (MSR Vista Wing) over the adjacent table. I have also used a Kelty 'Carport' awning over the side of the Element.
The third is from a multiday stay in the Bella Coola valley of BC. Here I used a large 4 man tent for sleeping, and large tarp (Walrus Aerotarp 150) over the dining area. In this case, the tarp served more to keep needles out of the food, rather than keeping rain out. This was our base camp, with day trips up lightly used forestry roads into the surrounding mountains.
The fourth is from a forest service camp at Harts Pass in Washington. This site had just been reopened after a forest fire a couple of years ago. With clear, bug free weather, camp setup was minimal - just cooking gear on the table during meals, and sleeping in the car. The Element served as a nice deer watching blind in the morning.
I try to keep the kitchen gear simple and compact. One 8 gal Rubbermaid box holds the stove set (Trangia alcohol) and pans, and other gear. Another box holds food, mostly dry and canned. A small cooler holds mostly lunch stuff. Sometimes I'll add another Rubbermaid with a small dutch oven and related gear. At night this all gets stashed back in the car, or on the roof rack.

Photo 1:
This is the multi-day set-up. For short stays we don't set up the screen house, we just set up a stove and table under the side awning.
Photo 2: This is the outside kitchen setup, usually setup under the screen house. For short stays we leave all this in the truck. The gear in the kitchen boxes is accessible from inside the truck.
Photo 3: The kitchen boxes stowed in the truck, gear is accessible if you remove the slide on side covers.

We drove over to Telluride from Moab, intending to camp in the town park, and then spend a few days exploring the jeep trails in the area (to the extent possible in an Element). But town was packed with a Blues and Brews festival, so I headed off to this forest service campground above town. As soon as we go up there and selected the site, it rained for an hour. It cleared enough for supper, a rainbow, and short walk, and then was rainy and windy all night long.
The next day was also rainy, so I opted to stick to the paved highways. Latter I learned that we had hit the remnants of a tropical storm from Baja. The same rain had caused some flooding that blocked access to Burr Trail in the Powell Lake area.

You're welcome to check out my tent sometime. It is a Technitop, not an Ezi Aawn, but pretty similar. Nathan sells Ezi Aawns and he's based in Longmont, so if you get one from him you could save a bundle on shipping! But yeah, gotta get something to put it on first. What are you looking at?

If you were cooking inside, who was outside snapping the pic? :)
WOW! That's breath taking! Where was that?
Well, I was using the royal "we"...
The photo was taken on Drake Peak, a bit east of Lakeview, OR. (few miles from CA, OR, and NV junction) about 8000', 15degrees, and wind gusts to about 50... Very pretty, but kinda cold walking around taking the pictures.

Dieck,
can you give me some info one the gear that your dog has on? I'm interested in getting some pooch packs for my dogs. Thanks.
Sure,
I like to do a lot of hiking on foot and don't enjoy carrying more than I have to. I have my pack down to about 15 lbs before food and water, and because my dog (Plato) is fairly big he requires a lot of food and water, especially in the outdoors in the heat (and I live in Texas). It would break my heart to leave him at home, so the only solution is to sack him up and make him carry his weight. He can carry about a weeks worth of his own food and 3 days of his own water. Plus it works out well because he tends to stay close and have less tendency to wander when he's loaded down. Without the pack he may run off on his own more than I like.
I picked it up at REI, although I'm sure you can get it other places cheaper. They let me take my Plato in and test fit em which I thought was nice and their return policy can't be beat.
REI has a great selection of dog outdoors gear.
http://www.rei.com/dog-toys
I tried several different brands and sizes on him and the one you see in the picture is the one that fit him the best. Fit is particularly important or the dog will usually try to lose the bag, or worse it can injure them.
Their dog pack section is HERE (http://www.rei.com/online/store/Search?storeId=8000&query=*&link=1&cat=4500452&top=650764%2C721144%2C684241%2C724051%2C700069&topTitle=TopPicks&cm_re=Lead*3*All_Dog_Packs&vcat=REI_SSHP_PICNIC_LD).

I'd suggest something that has a seperate harness for the dog. These come in real handy when hiking....the harness can be used w/o the packs, and the built in handle is great for picking up the dog to get them over things that they won't/can't jump over. Cherokee used to use a Approach II pack from Ruff-Wear (see pic below), but since she destroyed her knees, she doesn't carry anything anymore, but I still use the harness almost every time I take her hiking....just leave the bags at home.

Gas tanks. Like a second tank. I only have fuel in two of them right now. Carry a 6 gallon water jug in the back. I might switch to half water/half fuel.

Not an exotic location like most of you but here is our camp on the farm in WV. My son tuned 6 months old that weekend. I slept with my dad's old .22 pistol under my pillow in case any bear came in the night. I target shot the pistol the next day and the sights were so far off I couldn't even hit the tree the target was hanging from, good think the bear left us alone.
I like this thread, lots of cool pics/ideas.
I am definitely into keeping it simple, hate setup, pull in an relax.

Those are called limb risers. When you are in areas that have heavily overgrown trails it helps to keep the limbs and branches off your vehicle and windshield and gives you a less obstructed view.

That it is! It'll test your relationship too  but that's a story for another thread...
Unrelated to THAT... if there's one food product you NEED at BRC, it's pickles. Whole pickles, big or small, as long as they come in big jars you can re-close and have lots of juice.
The pickles, you'll just crave eating them in that environment, especially if you drink alcohol. The juice will solve most of your alkali-related skin problems (feet and elbows and.. special parts if you happen to be nude in a white storm) .. and then the jars make excellent trash containers for your wet naps, food wrappers, drug paraphernalia, or whatever else. Plus the huge 2 gallon plastic pickle jars can be used to craft various things like smelly frisbees, smelly fighting armor, and a smell-reducing (leave a bit of juice in the bottom) emergency latrine for when the established portajohns are just too gross for you.

Honestly, I don't know.
It belongs to my cousin who comes out to WY from MO, every summer to work as guide on fly fishing trips in Jackson Hole. That was a random 1 night outing on his way through to Jackson. I'll try to remember to ask him next time I see him.
I do know he has since totalled that 4Runner. Dodged a Moose on a tight trail in Grand Teton NP but wrapped the 'Runner around a Cottonwood tree. Totalling it must have been easier than organizing his mess of gear....
I do have a couple of other pics from that overnighter, maybe you can tell if it's the Kelty you're thinking of...? -

Nope. Its not the Trail Dome 2. The TD2 has a side entrance and when the fly is on, it has a vestibule. That one has the entrance from the end. It looks to be about the same size, though.

Wow, you got a SportMobile? That is awesome. Do a seperate thread on that, photos, specs, future mod's, etc...
Or if you've done that, please link us to it.
BTW, I think I saw your Cruiser back near the end of March on the highway past Cedar City Utah, heading westbound. You passed me in my white loaded up LR3. I was on fumes, and coasting down the hill to the next off ramp :-)

Campsite just out of Karijni National Park - so many 4wd trails to explore and unlimited places to camp! I'll never forget this night waking up at about 2am to a full moon and the howls of dingos. One of the most chillingly beautiful things I've ever heard.

This one was taken somewhere in northern Western Australia - pulled off a track off the side of the road and camped for the night after a long days drive.

Thanks mate - in the process of tearing it out and making MKII of my rear storage unit after a year of trips and working out exactly what I want. It has worked well though :)
Currently the 200kg slide lets me have my Engel and Twozone on it and another storage container which I can remove and use the space to cook on or as a table. Either side of the storage stores gear with 1 side with a switch panel controlling a water pump, air compressor and some other bits and pieces.
