Just a wild guess here, but by the screen name "shortymav" and the Ford Badge, I'd have to say his Patrol is actually a SWB Ford Maverick. Identical in every way to the Nissan Patrol, just with a Ford emblem on it, and very possibly, a lower price tag.
Congrats on the new rig.
Oh, and this thread is worthless without pics!! :shakin:

Cool mate - what batteries did you fit?
Did you get the SurePower 1314 battery isolator with the ARB kit?
I picked one up from ARB and after about a year it started working intermittently. I pulled it apart the other day, took it out of its case, gave it a good shake and spray with WD40 and its back to working good as new. Just a tip if yours ever plays up.

Put in the UHF today just a small GME tx3400 with remote head, the main body is hidden up above the blove box nice and high and the remote heat is mounted on the trim piece next to the gear lever so night drives the backlight doesnt hurt your night vision
comming in the next few weeks are slider's drawers and a fridge slide maybe aswell.
JeffWA

Sounds like how I did my remote head Uniden. I put my UHF above the glove box where the passenger side airbag would go and the remote head right here: ( I also whacked an external GME speaker under it )

bit of an update, drawers are under construction, intially out of 20x20 box section steel, then when im happy with teh design they will be made out of 20x20 alluminium :D for a weight saving
also finished a rear table, but not fitted yet made out of some scrap 10mm thick alluminium plate at work, milled out the inside 3mm so anything that falls over will not spill over the rear door. trying to figure out how to mount it with some small gas struts like on a car bonnet
Work has been pretty good to me, im an apprentice and they give me and the other boys free use of there tools, welding bay, tool room (mill lathe ect :D) and scrap material. also my boss gives me a hand doing some of the trickier stuff

Good lookin GU you got there mate! couple more comforts than the mav hey?!
shortymav
09-09-2008, 10:52 AM
OH yeah worlds apart from the mav, its got aircon :D still no cruise control, manual windows!
but for distance driving its much more comfy, stops better, uses less fuel ect
well planning our newyears trip, going to be a shakedown run for the rigs we have all (3 best mates) picked up new to us cars, 2 x 03 TD6 GU patrols and one 99 turbo diesel 100 series cruiser. so 6-9 days up in the malle country going to be hot but good, then should have a trip to the strezleci ranges or similar planned that will be 2 weeks or so.
Now i have a dead line of the end of the year to get the rig the way i want it, on an apprentice wage this will be no mean feat.
rear table, needs to be installed
drawers, need to get my *** into gear
3" lift kit installed - sitting in my room
stronger arms made up - get off my ***!

small update finished my sliders :D
just have to mount them to the chassis, plate steel is welded to the chassis and the sliders then bolt up to those plates, using high tensile bolts

Well its been a long time comming but ive finally got my arse into gear and building a new drawer system after the old one was poorly designed and built in a hurry!
quick mockup of what i expect to get from google sketchup,
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d72/aussie_extreme/drawers.jpg
missing some supports as my computer skills arent to crash hot! will have ply sides and top piece contoured to suit the car and the rear part will house my compressor and airtank up against my cargo barrier.
purchased the steel today and started cutting up the pieces and hope to start welding it together on Sat, then need to get the wood sorted for the top, sheet metal for the drawers sized and built up aswell as aquire some runners.
work just aquired a new sheet metal bender so drawers should be a good test for it, hopefully more pics to follow!

Shortymav~
I'm enjoying the build. I would like to know more about your fender flairs around your wheel wells. It looks to be a heave rubber material. I would like to do the same on my rig to keep the spray down.
shortymav
06-27-2009, 08:43 AM
Its a flare sold in 4wd shops here, I think its called bushranger but ill have to find out, comes in a big roll, has a lip for the guard you cut to length insert steel wire to stop sag (got mine second hand no wire) and then tek screw or rivet it onto the guards.
I got them to stay road legal, our rules in australia are s**t house
