sweet scrambler (http://home.stny.rr.com/jscherb/scrambler/)

I never even new that some of these jeeps existed. however a simple full length hard top could be a nice project for our usage with plenty of domestic support.

As much as a rarity as the "Alaskan Tops" are, Flagstaff P.O. had three of them at one time.

I've always lust after CJ-8s.

A CJ-8 is on my list of 'must owns'.

I have one scouted out, copper in color with a full hardtop and less than 70K miles. But he won't sell. :(

The one linked above is a really nice example of a resto'd Scrambler. Great link -

That link shows just how much restoration and modification was done. The guy does AMAZING work (he's got my Jeep at the moment).

Nope, I'm back in the sandbox. I've been here over a year and, believe me, I'm asking myself daily what I'm still doing here. I keep coming up with the same answer...lack of other things to do. hahahaha Besides, my Jeep is undergoing an engine swap (5.7L V8 Hemi), so I might as well hang out here in the desert until it's done. :costumed-smiley-007

Brad (the Overbuilt Customs guy) is going to start working on another CJ8 soon. The guy he's building it for had him build a red YJ in the past and he's selling that one...something like $50K. I think the red YJ is on the site...sweet rig.

I got to ride in the blue TJ while I was home last month. Thing is INCREDIBLE...will beat a sports car quite easily with that 427 under the hood. Gives you a big grin just sitting in the passenger seat.

I really like that hard top on the CJ8 in the first post...hadn't seen that before. I'm a fan of hard tops because the soft tops drive me insane (first 3 Jeeps had them).

That's a pretty cool looking Jeep. I've never seen one of those hardtops either. When I lived in Alaska I don't remember any of the mail trucks looking like that.

Now that is a travesty.

Nice jeep but to big for my tastes. Looks like he does good work though so your project should turn out ice too.

I agree. So far it is the only jeep I am intersted in. My best friend had one in high school we used to cruise in. It was a beat up 82 I think. We always had fuin in it adn from what I remember that 6 cyl got fairly good mileage with the 33" tires. Atleast as good as my 4cyl taco anyway.

I saw that copper colored CJ-8 at Jeeptoberfest, in Daytona Beach a couple of years ago. It was pretty sweet. It had two bench seats in the back with a custom cage.

Yeah, that would be the one. It's really an amazing Jeep. There's pictures on his site that show it being driven up in Tellico, so I'm glad it's being used properly. :)

Oh...the Jeep was in Four Wheeler magazine a while back too. I remember seeing it in the Reader's Rigs section. It's almost like it's famous...hahahaha.

Nice looking Scramblers... y'all are making me feel guilty for neglecting mine lately. It has been sitting in the garage way too much lately. I guess I need to get off my butt and organize the garage and do some cleanup and small projects on the Jeep to get it ready for the fall wheeling season.

Hey KC... anything is for sale for the right price... you obviously aren't offering the guy enough ya cheap bastid!

Of course, the sentimental value of a Scrambler has a high price. I'd peg mine at about $50,000, but since you're such a good guy, I'll let it go for half price... Although I should charge you double for getting me into the FWC I think it is almost as bad as the Jeep as far as modifications that you "need" to make.

Cool,
Another guy from the scrambler board.

Guess we might need to let Jeff know they have his scrambler posted on here.

I'm not cheap, I'm a ruthless negotiator.... :violent-smiley-031:

But if there is one vehicle I might mark out over and pay more than a reasonable price for, it would likely be the elusive CJ-8.

You're charging me with a lot here....;)

Scramblers are fun. The backcountry tour outfit I used to guide for had a fleet of them. Four-cylinders, sixes, and at least one with a small-block V8. Automatics and sticks, both. They were set up with double bench seats in the back and full cages. The V8 was the most fun to drive 'cause it was lifted high and really loud. But in the backcountry, that meant we never saw any wildlife from it. The four-banger was severely underpowered with six people aboard. The six-cylinder was my favorite to drive.

They have since switched over to four-door Wranglers.

You aren't being persuasive enough. That WFTW guy was looking for a short term job and he sounds like he could be the guy to persuade someone:p
