W00t!! :jumping: Had to take a sleeping pill last night to get some sleep!!!
I put together a list of things to ask the seller for....
-XM Satellite Account (need ID for radio, it's in the dash)
-Any records from repair work/oil changes etc
-Shore power cord
-D-shackles for bumpers (weren't on the truck when i test drove it)
-K40 CB Antenna (needs to be screwed on before i leave the sellers place)
-On board Air compressor (never was shown the compressor on the test drive)
-Original invoice (would be nice to have if they would give it to me)
-Original manuals
-Spare Keys
-SMB bottle jack
Anything im leaving out...?
-XM Satellite Account (need ID for radio, it's in the dash)
I think you can get the radio ID by tuning to either channel 0 or 1 if the previous owner doesn't have it handy. I can't remember which channel it is, but I'm near positive it's one of those two. Also, it looks like the XM-Sirius merger is getting the green light, part of the deal is existing subscribers are supposed to get locked in pricing...we'll see if that ends up as reality.
Congrats on the new rig!

07-24-2008, 04:02 PM
Dave, you know what.. i forgot all about that!... i haven't had a satellite radio in so long i forgot you can just tune to the channel to find out the ID.
Wesel... hahahahaha yeah  I'll have to wear a bandana around my neck or something.. lol
Is it 5 yet? This is going to be the longest day in history.

I suggest you have the seller show you how everything works. I videotaped this when I bought mine. Even though there is a SMB manual there are some things not covered. If you have time, have the guy explain everything while you video.

That is why I'm simply Nut Squad. So much easier to not have to change my name with every new purchase or sold off rig. :)
Plus, I've had it since the caveman days of the internet.

Hey SoCal,
Congratulations! I know the feeling as we too just picked up our SMB on 7/16/2008. You will just love it! The hard part is deciding where to go.
I look forward to more info and some pics when you get a chance.
Enjoy it!

Awsome!!!!!!!! Im totally jealouse of the Bumpers and the color!!!!!!! I love the 50 layout, waaaayyyyy more utilitarian and a ton more space.
Oh and what tires are you running. Going this weekend to get some 285's if Americas Tires Store will install them on the 7" rim.....frekin' tire nazi's
Very nice man, looks ideal!

07-25-2008, 05:33 PM
Yeah the EB50 is the bomb layout IMHO... we like the extra length of the EB too. Hopefully it won't hold us up too much going through washes and ruts.
The tires are wimpy 285's :D

Probably just slap a new radio in it.. i cant drive without tunes!!! Time to head back to the radio shop!

Anyways, should be back to normal here in a few hours.. just some more money out of the ol' wallet. :(

i dont mean to toot my own horn, but i hope you are planning to fix some of the apperance. The twin tires look like rocket boosters, and the bumpers on those all ways seem to look a little snubbed and bare. it needs some lights on it. like 2 square under the bar infront of the grill and another 2 round on top of the bar.
O and the best part of any vehicle that makes it look important. STICKERS!!! i still have some expo stickers. not to many left!

Yep new Rotors, Calipers, Pads and repack the bearings.
I went with the Super Spring coils (ala NRL from SMBforum). AWSOME by the way!!! And I also added their Super Spring to the rear to level out with the front (the new coils added an 1-1/4" to the front) and there work great. Much better than an add-a-leaf. I would recomend them to maybe help your sagging in the rear.
Im gonna check the articualtion with one of my contractors Fork Lifts this morning to see what I've lost. But I dont think much. Fingers are crossed.
So now I need a sweet bumper like yours!!!!!!

One of those divorced, no kids, single guy fantasies about living with a small footprint and being able to move around on command with a minimum amount of junk in tow.
There is more than one energy industry guy in the local campground living full time out of luxurious fifth wheel trailers or nice motorhomes.

Thanks!!! But Im Still jealouse of yours.. :).
I went with 285/75-16 BFG AT's. Im running 3:73's with and LSD in the rear.
Oh and I have the springs set on their lowest settings. So I could in theory really jack up the rear. In other words I bet you could acheive the same "unloaded look" even with your dual tire set up.

Right on. Yeah we are running the same tire size i believe with 4.11's and the limited slip.
Wait a minute... "springs set"? I thought they were leaf springs? How do you adjust them?
OH yeah and what did the super springs run? i dont see any pricing on their site or their dist. sites.
What i just found out by crawling under our SMB......... is that it has blocks in the rear..... this is just crappy IMHO... i mean you spend lets say $100k for a rig.. and they do blocks out back? Cheesy if you ask me. You still have blocks?

Sorry, it is a leaf spring but it has an attachement systme that is kinda of like an adjustable leaf spring. So you can in effect adjust them.
This is a PDF of the basic system. It does not have the three hole, mine came with a 2 hole adjustment on both ends.

Great read. Did you have any problems other than the air compressor? I know you are getting used to it, but is there anything you did or didn't like? How was your fuel mileage? Sorry for the questions, just really interested in the rig and your experiences, considering you are a recent LC owner.

So Dave, what's the poop on the "Photographers Edition"?
I'm assuming it's a trim level or floor plan, but what does it include over other SMB packages?
So did you sleep in the penthouse suite upstairs or are you using the fold out couch-bed?

Jack, no problem man.
The only thing i had to get used to on the trail was it's size. Some of the switchbacks can be tight. It's about the longest rig i would take up that trail. Worked well though. As long as you can fit it went.
Gas mileage was about 11mpg. Which is still better than the Cruiser at about 9-10. The v10 doesnt even know its loaded down either... compared to the cruisers inline 6 that could barely get out of its own way.

The photographers edition includes zip out screens in the penthouse so you can shoot pictures in the wild without getting out of the rig.

Other than that, i think everything else is mostly the same. We do have the underfloor storage area that most don't have, which makes it nice. I keep all my dirty tools down there.
We slept downstairs this trip. If it's hot , we'll sleep upstairs where the breeze can come through the penthouse windows. Downstairs is quiet.. and no breeze, but has the heater. It was nice sleeping in a hard wall bed :D
