Scott, unfortunately, I'm pretty well locked in for the 5th. If it would work for you, I'd have no objection to having a group of LR's come along for the trip!

Mark, sounds like a blast, and I would love to go. However, Colette and I will be sunning ourselves on the beaches of Puerto Vallarta on that date, and I am sure I will have a large amount of Tequila and Cerveza in me at the time. But I will think of you guys though.:D

WEATHER UPDATE:
Saturday...Partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms. Highs 79 to 85.
Route Planning:
We'll be heading out Perkinsville road to the Verde River, take a quick break, then head towards Jerome, pick up the old narrow guage railroad bed back to the Great Western Trail and do Martin Canyon (Smiley Rock). There have been some mondo storms on Mingus - it'll be fun to see the trail conditions!

Wil,
Chino Valley is north of Prescott.
Coming from Phx:
From Cordes Jnt go 21 miles on SR69 to Prescott Country Club. Turn Right on Fain Road, (the outer loop road around Prescott Valley to SR89). Stay on Fain Road to SR89A (don't turn left onto SR89A) until it intersects SR89, turn right onto SR89 and head north to Chino Valley. The Safeway store is at the second light in Chino on the right side.
It's an additional 25 minutes drive time from the Valley - roughly 2 hours from I-17 and the 101.
Oh yeah, after you pass the airport, keep your eyes peeled on both sides of the hyway for Antelope herds - usually see at least a few of'm.

Wil,
Unless Mark has some cool, alternate route to Jerome, you would be better of meeting them at 89/89a intersection.
You likely already know all this though, having lived up here for ~4 years.

Wil,
Yes, Amy and I are going. We will probably leave Mesatopia around 6am and stop in New River or Black Canyon City for breakfast unless Mark can suggest a good place in Chino Valley. Also, since we have not been to Jerome for a few years we are "honeymooning" at the Jerome Grand Hotel after the run and heading home on Sunday.
