Anyone in the Phoenix are have any OHV adventures planned for this weekend, Saturday?
Or would you be interested in one?
I have family coming into town and I'm thinkng of taking a couple of them out of the trail for a day or 1/2 a day, maybe even an evening if the temps are out of control!
Perhaps up on top of the Rim where its cooler, Sedona maybe? Someplace with great scenery and some nice challenges on the trail.
It might just turn out to be Broken Arrow for the morning along with some other short trails in the area.
I'll try to solidify some plans, let me know if anyone is interested.

I'm game. For some reason I think I have something to do on Saturday, but for the life of me I can't remember what it is. So if I can't remember what it is between now and then, count me in. :p
I'm cool with Sedona... I was supposed to go up there for some MTB this last Sunday, but was out too late on a Saturday night wheeling trip (didn't get home till 3:30am).

Brian, sounds like it could be fun. Did you check with the Forest Service to see if the forest is open again? I know it was closed not too long ago. Also, Greasy Spoon is a fun little run also, but not quite lik BA. If the Forest is closed still then that area is a no go. I might be up for this, but I also told a friend that I would help him move. I am not sure if it is on Satruday or Sunday, I will let you know.

OK, I stand corrected, I just read Mark's post on the "Overland" thread, and the forest is open. I would reccomend Greasy Spoon as it will not be as busy, congested with Pink Jeeps, and you don't have to pay to park and have lunch. If you set out in the morning you could get both trails in. That would be fun.:D

Great guys!
Ok so my guests are trying to fly stand-by on Thursday but if they do not make it then they have paid tickets for Satruday. If they fly in Thursday or Friday then it's probably on! But if they fly in Saturday then we won't go...
I'll know more on Thursday

Cool Brian. Hey, where are they flying in from, and what airline? They should not have too many problems flying into PHX this time of year, but you never know. What about Sunday? Keep us posted.

My sister is flying in from Chicago on a purchased ticket that is confirmed for Thursday. My parents, also flying in from Chicago, are flying standby on United since my Step-Father is a retired captain. If they can't get a flight standby they have purchased tickets for Saturday. From what i've heard it is getting more and more difficult for employees and retired employees to fly standby on some routes.

Oh, Sunday may be good but it would be crack of the morning and probably stay close, like Saguaro Lake maybe? We are celebrating Charlies 1year birthday party that afternoon and it would be bad form for her Dad to miss it!
I would much rather go Saturday but we shall see.

I might be interested as well. Haven't had a day off in two months but this weekend is looking pretty good. Could possibly have a couple of friends that would be interested as well (Stock Rubicon/Modified Scrambler/Modified YJ). Greasy Spoon, Soldiers Pass and Oak Creek Homestead (Cliffhanger) are all great trails that wouldn't be bad additions to Broken Arrow. I really enjoy VanDeren Cabin but it's a really short trail with a bit of a drive to the trail head.

The stand by passengers did not make it in today but are 99% on making it tomorrow. It's looking like we have 3 or 4 vehicles interested other than myself so although I initiated this I say you all go for it even If I can't!
I will know definite tomorrow, sorry for the delay:rolleyes:

I'm a dweeb: what's the trail? Or trails? Meeting place? Time?
Might I suggest the Chevron at Carefree highway and I-17...say, oh, 8:00 am on Saturday? Convoy up to Sedona.
Greasy Spoon is cool, most of it is now a mild dirt road; Pirates be ye warned! A handful of ledges and hills will get your attention, though. Good scenery.
I've never done Soldiers Pass. Homestead takes you to the creek!
Anyway, I'm in.

GAME ON!:jumping:
Ok, I'm in!
Looks like we have
mcvickoffroad - Brian - Land Rover DII
Articulate - Mark - Jeep or Nissan?
Flyingwil - Wil - Taco
Datrupr - Aaron - Trooper, Lubed and ready for his pleasure only!
Sethjs - Seth - Taco
Crawldit - I look forward to meeting you and learning your name!
Meet at Chevron at Carefree highway and I-17...say, 8:00 am on Saturday Juley 15 for Convoy up to Sedona, leaving by 8:30.
My cell is (Six O Two) - Four Six O - Two Two Eight Four
CB Ch 4
I will have myself, my father in law and my step father. Our game plan is to wheel for the morning and then meet up with our ladies for lunch in Sedona.
All I know in that area is Broken Arrow so please suggest some other trails. I believe Broken Arrow is only 2-3 miles long so if not too crowded we should be able to do other trails in the morning as well. And if we think BA will be too crowded we can do others. I'll look at the books tonight but for those of you who know the area, tell me more!

Very cool!
If you're meeting up for lunch, there will only be time to do one trail between 8:30 and hungry time. I'd suggest Broken Arrow since you've got outta-towners. It's got that "roller coaster" feel to it. They'll love it.
The other trails would be fine, but they don't pack as much punch as BA. But I haven't driven Soldier Pass, so I don't know what that one is like at all.
I'll probably have the Jeep.
Trooper, Lubed and ready for his pleasure only!

Brian, lets come in via the 89 and run Greasy Spoon first, then head into Sedona and run Broken Arrow. Let me see if Colette wants to come, and if not she might be cool hangin out with the ladies. I'll give you a call.

Brian, Monty wants to know if his buddy Ollie is going to make it?
Brian McVickers
07-14-2006, 10:49 PM
Ollie is not going so Monty will be solo.
That heat is brutal on Ollie and we are also doing vehicle juggling once I meet up with the family for lunch so...
If you think we can do Greasy and BA then I'm game
Ofcourse you all should make a full day of it, I'll just have to peel off around noon.
BAAHAhaaaahhhaaahaha

I plan on making an entire day of it, so if anyone else wants to run several trails I'm game.

OK! See you boys in the morn'.
We're in the hands of Brian and Aaron to plan the trail(s) for us.
Wil wants someone to call him, so I'll give him a shout a little later.
Rock-n-roll!
