Monache Meadows 8/11 - 8/13

[Mlachica]

I'm heading out to Monache Meadows for a relaxing weekend in the high sierra. It's an easy trail with the exception of driving accross the Kern River! The scenery is beautiful at one of the highest meadows reaching above 8000' feet.

Although....."asteffes" started the wild west gathering idea in total....so he must be included!

This would be a good trial run before Colorado for my engine.

What about meeting up in Lake Isabella. Get all your last min. goodies and gas up here.

Then head north up the Kern River and over Sherman Pass ...and then over to the Mark and Mark Meet up at Monache!:088:

That sounds good Mark, I think I'm going to head west from the 14/395. I think it'll be more scenic. We could meet somewhere around Isabella. What time you think you'll be able to leave?


We'll probably head up early Fri morning - 6am or so.


I called the ranger station and the weather up there has been absolutely beautiful - toasty during the day and crisp at night.

Target shooting is allowed, so I'll be bringing some toys to play with. What's fun to shoot? I've only shot steel and paper targets...

Wow I don't know how I missed this thread's updates. :( I can't leave work in San Mateo tomorrow until 6 or 7pm. That would put me in Porterville around 11pm at best (leaving the Bay Area on a Friday night is painful!)

Fairview was pretty nice. We ended up with a great spot by the river. It was also alot warmer than Monache that morning!

I told my brother in law to cut one up, he's a butcher for a grocery store :chowtime:

The ranger and some others said they were controlled fires that looked out of control :(

I'd go back but I think I'd camp somewhere else for better picture taking...What's the word on your truck?

yeah those wheels you posted flyingwill are actually called "fuel" i think. i'm actually looking at those too! mlachica, how do you like your teflon mojaves? what do you think about the teflon coating, will it chip in loose rock flying conditions? looking great in adventure red!
