Anybody headed down on a bike? I'll be leaving thursday morning from Tucson and going to San Felipe through Mexicali. Would love to have someone to ride with.
Let me know.

Just watched "Dust to Glory" today, what a cool movie. Any race fan should check it out.

no way.... go fast, take chances!

Not a good weekend for it...odds for problems are increased substantively with the tired and overworked chase crews trying to win the Hwy race. Just remember that a least one non-racer dies at the 500 and 1000 almost every year.

Be safe and ride smart

One of the guys that works for me left yesterday noon and headed down for the race. He is a member of a quad team #103 and is the 4 rider in the leg starting in the Durango area south of Mexicali, best wishes and god speed Fred!!!!!!!!:roost:

Well, a little change in plans. I wrecked on my KLR monday afternoon. I was on a looooong straightaway then when turning a hard right found out the hard way that I had a flat front tire! I was pretty lucky all considered. I've got road rash on my right side (foot, ankle, calf, knee, hip, elbow, shoulder). I'm amazed no bones were broken. The bike came out unbelievably well. I guess it should considering I broke it's fall! :)

So, I'm still going just that I'll be driving instead with someone else. Here's the shared page for my SPOT. I've been doing some testing with it around town. We leave Thursday around 11:00 am.

The last thing I want to remind those on bikes, WEAR YOUR HELMET! Chances are I would not be here today. I took a hard shot to the head but thanks to a good helmet didn't suffer even a headache. Be safe (but still ride hard and take lots of chances!) :sombrero:

What other gear were you wearing when you went down?

Riding Boots, Gloves (luckily), Jeans (completely tore off from the knee down, helmet, riding jacket.

If I wasn't wearing boots it would have been really bad in that area as well. As it was it tore off the laces, the tongue of the boot, and most of the eyelets along one side. I still got some road rash in that area but it would have been a lot worse.
