Well it normally wouldn't be anything exciting, but in an hour or so I'm leaving eastern Massachusetts to travel to Rutland, VT for the evening to visit a friend. Tomorrow morning I'm leaving there, and driving to New Milford, NJ for a holiday party then driving back home to MA tomorrow night! If you've seen the weather reports for the northeast (including the 12" of snow I need to shovel off the Jeep before leaving) then you understand why this is an "expedition" :Wow1:

Total round trip: 600 miles.

I'm excited, for some reason.

I've driven up to hostels and cabins in the Rockies on winter weekends and loved the sense of adventure so I can appreciate your thoughts.

Snow is something that generally doesn't phase me but I've got to tell you, it's currently -36ºc here with wind chills of -42ºc. A vehicle breakdown here between say Nordegg and the Banff-Jasper Icefields Parkway junction right now could have truly ugly consequences.

ya know as much as I like driving in this crap (we are having snow events right now as well.) its the other idiots on the road that scare me. So tonights 12" of snow we are going to get is enough to make us stay home and watch movies. I would rather not deal with some idiot driving into me and my family.

My wife thinks I'm nuts for liking to drive in the snow. I agree about those other idiots out there. It seems like all common sense flies out the window when it snows. Also, common courtesy as well. Just today, we were heading up a ramp and traffic had stopped. After a minute some cars started driving around the "blockage", which was revealed to be some poor guy in an old Saturn trying to get up the hill. Of course no one thought to get out and help push so I hit the hazards and ran up to help. It didn't take that much effort and the guy was real appreciative. I don't know how many times I have done this. Sometimes I would have to walk past other cars who are just sitting there with their thumbs up their butts to help. Jeez, sorry about the rant.

Have a safe trip. It's been snowing all day down in Rhode Island.
