View Full Version : ER partial builds..?

I'm curious if ER does partial builds? I'm mostly interested in the box w/ raising roof like the pic below. I'd like to have them build a insulated box with raising roof with windows and a door per my spec's and that's it.. I would add interior myself.. If not, where does one find detailed info on how that roof-raise works and how to construct one..? Anyone done a hard-side roof like that?

Um....that's not an Earthroamer; it's a Unicat. Complete, finished with everything the box runs about $450,000 euros. It would require a 6X6 truck such as an Int'l 7300 or 7400, or a long wheelbase 5 ton military truck. Check www.unicat.net , look under "special offers". The price listed is for camper plus 6X6 MAN chassis.

Hi Charlie, I stand corrected..I knew that too.. I'll move my question to another thread..
actually did a search and found this thread:

You may also want to consider an Alaskan Camper. I know they are pretty good about selling shells, partial, and complete campers. They may be willing to sell you a larger shell without the cabover bed that would meet your requirements. Check out Carl's build thread. http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9502

Alaskan Camper will modify their pop-up design to meet your needs. The only exception I'm aware of is that they require the door to remain on the rear of the camper.
For example, here's an Alaskan Camper without a cab-over, 13 feet in length, fitted to a Sprinter chassis. (I've lost the information about the owner of this vehicle. Can anyone help remind me?)

Wonder what the longest Alaskan was that they have built? 16', 20', etc.. And what would just an insulated shell cost do you think, say the above 14 footer..? I'm mainly interested in an insulated box with a raise-able roof like the Alaskan or Unicat..
Don't know if this helps, but another option that has at least been mentioned on these pages before may be to get a HI-LO (http://www.hilotrailer.com/hilo.html) camp trailer and remove the axle (frame?).
Looks like they have models from about 15' up to about 28'.
Has anyone ever asked them about buying an unfinished shell? Without the trailer?
