I have been trying to design a product for "adventure vehicles" that I could make and sell under my dba: Overland Hardware for several years now. I haven't had much luck before last week, then I came up with what I believe to be a useful product...
Expedition Door Hasps.
Granted they're not for everyone, but if you go into Mexico and plan to leave your vehicle to hike / surf / dive...Its a VERY sound idea to make your vehicle more secure.

If anyone is interested in them, please PM me.

Very good looking piece!
Do you have any pictures of them installed on a vehicle?

Jack. Those are first class. How do they attach to the door/body?

Thanks for the compliments guys.
The prototypes were fresh out of the mill today so I don't have any pictures of them mounted on vehicles yet. I have spent some time over at the local junk yards on Friday with a pair of calipers measuring the lips on the door and the door frames though.
With the design, tooling / fixturing, and CNC programming completed...It will not be hard to tweek things to fit different vehicles and door combinations.
The hasps have two blind tapped 5/16-18 holes in a diagonal pattern on the back of each side. My plan is the sell the pairs with a laser cut gasket that will also act as a drill guide ( and a very through disclaimer..DON'T CALL ME IF YOU DRILLED YOUR DOOR WRONG).
I will be offering them hard anodized (dark gray) and with Teflon powdercoat like on some after-market wheels.
I'm going to get a hold of Master Lock this comming week to see if I can buy / re-sell they're locks with matching keys per set (3 doors, 3 locks, 1 key to open all locks).
Oh and did I mention that you can open beer bottles with them also?:victory:

Nice - these will do well...
can you do it with a combination lock ?
and how about a special larger pair for the tail gate?

Now that I have the process down, how to hold the material, what cutting tools to use, etc...I have a blank canvas. I can make them longer, shorter, for different locks, fit onto tool box lids, even make then into hinges.
I'll be talking to a friend that owns a junk yard today, to see if I could "mount them" onto a wide selection vehicles. He even has a Range Rover!

Those are COOL! Nice job. Is it my imagination, or do they look like sharks heads? :costumed-smiley-007
I've been looking for a decent set of those. Up until now I've been using these.

Here is a template for the hasps. You "should" be able to print out this image from your browser and have it be "close" to correct size.
Then cut out the oval and line it up on your door and door frame to see guess-timate the location of the holes.
Any input from you guys would be GREATLY appreciated!

Here are some pictures of the hasps on a U1300 and a landi 110.
They work great on the Mog.
They don't work on the landi because the door fit is too sloppy!:D
