Alrighty then, been talking with flyingwil about the Odyssey PC1200. Since I dislike troubling the guy with my thoughts, I'd figured to trouble the rest of ya lol. My question is, What is the advantage of having a metal jacket on the PC1200MJT? Is it there for protection or stability or something totally different?

Keeps the Aliens from stealing your battery power. :victory:
I don't know why it's there. I would be interested in such were I looking to put a battery in a place where it might see gravel occasionally sprayed at it.

I have both an Odessey 1700 and a 925, both with the metal jackets installed in my 4Runner. I have heard they help provide additional exterior support to limit potential swelling in the heat. I really don't know if that's a fact or was just somebody's opinion.
I personally like the idea just from an exterior physical protection standpoint. I have been running these for a while now and like them a lot.
This may come from my past experience with a cooling fan self destructing and throwing damaging debris everywhere on my past 90 4Runner. That incident punched a hole in my plastic battery. Not a concern anymore with the metal jacket.

Thanks for the quick replies...I never thought of stability, though could understand it being a protective device. I'll have to send an email out to odyssey and get the low down on that.
