Homebrew Cream Soda?

Anybody here homebrew vanilla cream soda?

I've tried a couple of recipes I've found on the net that use soda water, but can't find a soda that doesn't give the brew a soda taste. Imagine that.

I've also seen recipes that use plain water and yeast to carbonate. I'm thinking of trying that.

Any expertise on board?

BTW, it's the IBC taste I'm going for. Or the HEB store brand. Those are my favs.

i know this is quite old, but i was wondering if there is any headway made in the right combo's.

if i could find a way to make my own cream soda that tastes like the "A-Treat" cream soda i would be in heaven. "A-treat" stands for Allentown treat. A small Soda company from Allentown Pennsylvania.

I played around with it a bit, but couldn't find a combo I liked. Then the doctor got me off of sodas altogether.
