I am an Irish breakfast tea guy. I have several loose teas ready to go in air tight containers. I have a really nice spiced earl grey, an oolong and a couple green teas. All in all I like the mild pick me up and mellow taste of the Irish the best.
Does anyone else do the loose teas or do you guys just stick with the bagged stuff?

I am all about the Oolong here - TenRen is my personal fave or any other cheap loose leaf. Don't really care for flavored tea's or any Oolong that has another flavor with it.
The missus is into the Earl Grey or Englis breakfast.
we both only drink loos leaf...

Wow, I just checked our pantry and we have everything from Tarajulie to Rooibos, Jasmine Green to Chocolatey Chai. Now you would think, with the wife and I being tea freaks and all, that we'd have a couple leaves of Earl hanging around but nope. Crazy. Earl's good but I'm more of a chai or green kinda guy. My wife digs the black teas more than I.

I've always been an EG drinker - lately I've been mixing a bag of EG with a bag of peppermint - pretty nice.:coffeedrink:

I like Earl gray but none of the various flavored teas that seem common in th US. I grew up drinking PG tips, Tetley and Yorkshire tea and I drink tea with milk in it. I don't really have a preference out of those three they are all great. I never drink 'English Breakfast Tea' because its not strong enough.
If you want to buy English tea you can get it at Cost Plus World Markets in bags or loose leaf (If you live in a big city find an British Shop, they usually have it too)

Earl Grey is one of the few English teas I like to drink without milk.
Its not Earl Grey but amazon.com sells PG Tips for a reasonable price. Not cheap, just more reasonable than elsewhere.
If you can't find that or can't wait for shipping and you need strong tea that's tasty, and turns a mug brown in less than a minute, Irish breakfast tea from Trader Joes is rather effective.
Just my opinion of course. Like beer, tea drinkers are an opinionated bunch.
Cheers,
Graham

Most Stop and Shops in Connecticut sells PG tips. I have a box floating around somewhere.

We have a bunch of British expats here. PG Tips is regular grocery store fare, along with a fair amount of other British foods. I buy the Mornflake Porridge Oats and prefer it to Quaker Oats.

I have never had any joy finding PG Tips, I always get my mum to bring them from the UK when she comes. I was just in Wholefoods and low and behold they have them and always have had!
I think its still more fun to make you mum bring 2000 tea bags through customs!

Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.
Either that or a dirty chai (make it a double).

Earl Grey rather than PG tips. The importance of stopping and taking the time to brew a cup of tea is rather overlooked and perhaps under rated especially on overland trips:)
When your Land Rover develops a mysterious and ominous mechanical noise or you get stuck on an obstacle miles from anywhere before you dig out the tools or recovery gear, taking the time to calmly assess the situation over a cup of tea has proved invaluable over the years (and prevented some ill advised initial reactions to certain situations) LR workshop manuals should all have tea cup rings on the frequently used pages. Also what better way to defuse the stress and frustration at border crossings than to brew a cup of tea:coffee:

Being from Texas I grew up on tea, ice tea no sugar. I never would have thought to drink it hot so it never went with me on camping trips. Now in New England, I like to drink something warm from time to time and I don't drink coffee. I discovered how relaxing hot tea is.
I generally drink Barry's Irish Breakfast, and sometimes Darjeeling.

ha! i can't believe i get to share my love of earl grey tea wich yall! i had a coworker years and years ago who drank it every day and i was enticed by the fruit loops cereal aroma. i recently bought a cup at starbucks, and the snotty ***** behind the counter chose to share connivingly to her coworker how it reminder her of old people, but it didn't spoil my love for it. i want you to picture this if you will, a fluffy chocolate scone with rich earl grey frosting - a friend of mine infused the two and it was like he raided jesus' personal baked good stash

I used to drink Earl Grey a lot too. Nowadays I often add some cardamom into my tea - it is great (especially with a dash of condensed milk). You may want to try it.

Now that is what I call tea!!! Hard to find around here but worth the hunt. The flavour reminds me of sailing ships. Don't know why but that is the vision I have when I settle back of a cuppa LS.

The tea is dried over pine nut fires, and that causes it to pick up sort of salt-air and tar tastes....it's great! I buy some from tea specialty shops when we're in the BIG cities...or mail order it if a trip is off the radar scope.
I usually drink coffee (unless in some country where they can actually brew decent tea - England, India, Nepal). I can't stand anything from Lipton or tetleys, and want my tea strong enough that I can't see the bottom of the cup. The tea dust that Liptons uses is just too weak and bitter for me.

Lapsang Souchong is great. People either love it or hate it. I drink it only occassionally, always just the tea - never along with any food (that's where cardamom tea does a better job for me).

In an effort to break the soda habit, I have started on tea. I am digging the Earl Grey. We have a good selection at the work cafe and this African Nectar is really good.
Parents are ex pats so I grew up on tea, love it.

Try making Earl Grey with a mix of 1:1 water and white grape juice - boil the mixture and steep your tea.
