Well, I have been keeping a tight lip but my new ride has arrived and is in my driveway. Mercedes Benz Gelandewagen 300GD 3L 5 cyl. NA diesel. I imported it from Japan and it has 103,000 kms. Overall condition is great.

Thanks for the compliment. First thing on my list is to convert it to WVO (waste veggie oil), I will add another fuel cell to run the WVO almost doubling my fuel capacity and range.
I am considering a RTT, turbo and the military snorkel. I will replace the tires with BFG AT's for now.

Wow, very nice...
If you need a professional conversion (highly recommended) I can strongly recommend Shane from Rover Hybrids (http://www.roverhybrids.com/). I would also compare your power needs and then estimate that about 1/4 will be lost at 5,000 feet or higher. Your need for a turbo will probably be much more noticeable than you think particularly when you start adding larger tires and again when you get to altitude..

Looks nice!
Is it left hand drive like most other Japanese german imports?

By the pics it does look to be left hand drive. What a great score.

Yes it is a German market G that was imported to Japan and therefore is left hand drive.

Nice find!
Looks like a great platform for ExPo travel!
The OJ has a first class writeup on those rigs in last Gear issue. You should check it out if you don't get the mag!

Ya in the squa-mishhh? cool, do you know anyone in town/sea-to-sky corridor/van specialising in wvo conversion/custom tank building with a decent reasonable reputable service/price?

Funny you should ask, I installed a kit before on another vehicle of mine and after seeing a few others I realized my install was even nicer than some of the "professional" installs out there. All the wire connecters were heat shrunk and wiring loom was used to give it a clean look. You can see it here:

What vehicle are you thinking of installing a veggie kit on?
