View Full Version : New Winch/Bumper for the FJ40

A few folks noticed I upgraded my front bumper just prior to the Gunsight Pass trip. :wings:

I finally got out the camera (i.e., got off my butt) to get some photos.

Jake was going to fabricate some changes to the front bumper to accept the winch but it was cheaper just to get a new bumper. He added a couple of tabs to the brush guard to move the driving lights up and out of the way.

So...the winch is a Warn 8274-50, and man is it fast! Jonathan helped me unspool it and slide on the Winch Saver you see in the photo (Winch Saver (http://www.winchsaver.com/))

The shackled bumper is from Cool Cruisers of Texas and made/predrilled for the 8274. (Cool Cruisers HFS Bumpers (http://coolfj40.stores.yahoo.net/bumper.html))

So now I just have to give it a good workout somewhere...

I got the winch from Central 4WD Supply, and the bumper from Cool Cruisers of Texas...

Ed - you always do just the right mods and upgrades to the awesome FJ40 of yours :clapsmile


I am gonna take a wild guess here and say you might bet the chance to test out that Warn 8274-50 winch at this years Expedition Trophy Challenge :gunt:

Ed,

That bumper is mighty darned good looking :sombrero:

Can't wait to see the winch in action (hopefully not the bumper though!)

I've envied your FJ40 since the first day I joined the forum... well, yours and Jonathans. In any case, I love the winch and bumper add-on. It looks sharp and adds to the function of your cruiser for sure. Thanks for sharing pics!

The rear is getting a winch within the next couple of months, I just need to stop being lazy :D

Nice setup. I had the same thing on my 40. Brushguard from Man-a-Fre and similar bumper with the 8274-50. Was a great setup. I love that winch.
