I am at my wits end. I have had this reocurring problem since I've owned my 99 tacoma. I hear a chirping sound with the tire rotation on the back tires. I just had both front and rear brakes done and the sound is still there. One guy at Brakes Plus said it was brake dust and it will eventually come back even after a thourough cleaning. What perplexes me is the last time I had the front brakes done and the rears cleaned it went away for almost a year. What could be causing this and how do I get rid of it.

How long has it done this? I would check that the drums are not out of round and that the wheel bearings are good. I once had a chirping from the front brakes that was the results of worn out wheel bearings letting the rotor wobble just enough to kiss the pads. Just a very light touch on the pedal would make it go away.

I feel stupid, the cause of the squeak was the plastic center caps on the rims. After a few times of popping them off the clips got bent and made the cap loose, so when the tire started spinning they made a squeaking sound.
DUHHHHHHH!

My ceramic pads have never squeaked. I put a lot of the squeal-goop on the back of the pads and never heard a peep out of them.
