I have a roof rack. Can these awnings be perm mounted and how are they attached to a roof rack?

the awnings can be mounted permanently.

Here's a pic of the unit mounted to a set of cross bars using custom made brackets. Depending on your rack you might be able to bolt it directly to the railing or might need to use brackets.
