She rattles a bit, at slow take offs and low idle acceleration. Here are pics of the drive shaft coming out of the transfer case the seal is cracked a bit. I'm looking for some advice on how to repair it.

The output housing likely has a collar like bushing or bearing the the driveshaft rides on, if its worn this will allow play and vibration. Check a parts breakdown for your model t-case, pull the driveshaft, check for excess wear, if ts ok, do the bushing and seal

Grab all the joints with your hand a give them a good shake. If any one has play then it is most likley the culprit. look at the dampner also, maybe the rubber has rotted away. It could be the u-joint, looks like you have been slining some grease. If your u-joint was a sealed unit and its slinging then is time to replace it or make sure you have a spare. If it is a greasable u-joint then its probably just from over greasing.

The NV242 on my WJ developed the exact same thing. turned out to be the output on the transfer case; some mud made it undetected under the rubber boot and with time chewed the output out. Actually traded my WJ with the rattle to a dealer...

Thanks for the input. Looks like the rattle is actually comming from the catalytic converters. The elements have vibrated loose. The CV joint is also starting to decline and is spinning out grease. The seal at the back of the transfer case could stand to be replaced but is not leaking anything.
