Thanks for the great idea. I think I have some little camcorder (8mm) tapes. Do you handle those too?

Dave,
Do you put breaks in the disc, like chapters or scenes, or is it one straight uninterrupted movie?

8mm should not be a problem. The only version we can't do is "DIGITAL Hi8". They never made a deck for those. However, that being said, if it is... we can just run it off your camera if you still have it.

We can do video Reel to Reel to DVD for $0.25 a foot. It takes a week or two depending upon how man you have.

Reel to Reel audio to CD is $75/hour and takes a week or two as well.

Dave,

I can if you want.. but usually we charge more for that because we have to baby sit the transfer. Yes, the $15.00 is what we call a "quick and dirty". Just an auto play DVD that plays all the way through.

Sounds good. We appreciate it. Actual audio. It's realtime.. so basically... $1.25 a minute. Minimum charge is 1 hour ($75).

I might drop by and give you our wedding Mini DV that we've never seen (since we don't have a mini DV camcorder). $15 is a steal!

If I had some cassette audio books that I wanted transferred to CD, could you do that?

Dude, i might have to do that one for free... that's just plain wrong that you never have seen your own wedding video!!!! Drop on by!

As far as audio cassette books, if they're copyright protected because they're sold to the public.. then no can do. Sorry man.

That tape description is a standard hi8 or 8mm. However, just because the tape wasn't made for digital doesn't mean you can't record to it that way. Only true way of knowing is me popping one in our deck and trying it. If it comes up snow, then it's digital. If you want to fire one out, i can let you know right away.

Can you do this? I need to transfer a Super8 home movie to something digital that I can put on YouTube or elsewhere. It is my in-laws wedding from 1968. They never saw the film - we found it in her uncle's house when we cleaned it out after he died.

I have a projector that I was going to use to show it to them, but the bulb burned out and those DFC bulbs were pretty expensive last time I checked.

James, Yes, but it's expensive... like $0.25 a foot to DVD. Is it in good condition? What size reel?

Wow! Great service Dave. Making those old tapes into digital DVD's are so awesome. You should post this on the SMB forum. I'm sure those guys will be interested as well.

I'm meeting up with Dave tomorrow to hand over the remainder of my tapes.

These are tapes I haven't looked at in 10 years as I no longer own an 8mm camera. I was looking through the tapes, and it all brought back memories. There is even a tape of my daughters first birthday party, she'll be 15 this year.

Can't wait for Dave to get them on DVD.

Glad I saw this just now, as I was thinking of this just yesterday.
I have Sony Hi 8 tapes from the early 90s of my kids on camping trips, around home, ect...that I want on DVD.

Will have to dig them out and get in touch with you later.

The reel is 3 inches or so in diameter. Perhaps 50 feet?

Yes, that would be about 50 feet... or $12.50. We have a minimum order of $25.00 on reels because it's not a simple setup/procedure. Do you have anymore?

I got my DVD's yesterday, and we watched a few of the them last night.

WOW!! watched my daughter's first birthday, and snippets of her daily routine. She's 14 now, and all she could say was "you guys spent so much time playing and taking care of me, do you still love me as much?"

Two DVD's down ten more to go.

Dave, this is one of the best investments I have ever made. If you have old tapes hanging around gathering dust do yourself a favor and get them transferred, you won't regret it.

Great talking with you today.

Hopefully a little business comes your way.

On another note, we may need some transfers done from my office. Do you have any issues with signing confidentiality agreements?
