I recently got a new job about a month ago. I work in a pharmacy as a pharmacy technician, (it pretty much involves taking your prescriptions, entering then in the computer, then finding the med and counting the pills out and finally filling your prescription, it's the same thing a pharmacist does, but for an 8th of the pay haha..) So I'm standing on my feet for about 12 hours a day, does anyone know of some good shoes, or also some good insoles, that help if you are going to be standing all day. My legs are killing me!! And I've tried many shoes, with varied results, but none really relieve the pain all together. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
-Devin

Every shoe is different for everyone, But Rockports used to have a very comfy dress shoe. When Doc Martens where made in England they were a good style of shoe also. I will be watching your thread also.

Best of Luck.

Try good hiking boots. Seriously.

yeah, ill take a look at them, I'm open to all suggestions, thanks, although i forgot to mention that they don't necessarily need to be dressy or anything, because I stand behind a counter for most of the day.

Look into Dansko. My wife had a back injury and the Dansko's did as much for her back as the visits to the chiroprator. Some look a bit Clog-ish, but I think those ones are the best for your back, legs & feet because they correct your posture.

I've had good luck with Merrells (http://www.merrell.com/US/en-us/Gallery.mvc.aspx/M-F/Gender-Gallery-Root/Men/Footwear?SelectedSort=HighestRated). It's pretty much my favorite shoe.

No problem, I should have mentioned they're not cheap, but what is these days. My wife had good luck find discounted pairs online, she's a pro at finding crazy good deals online.

Any chance you could sit while counting the pills out? On a tall stool or?
Any break from standing, even in short breaks may help a bit.

Yeah, i wish, but corporate says no, only the "pharmacist" has a stool... booooooo :sombrero:, i guess they don't want us slaves to get used to sitting, haha :bike_rider: (BTW, i'm wearing the new balances now and they seem to be alright, not great, but the best so far.)

Insoles make a huge difference. If you can't find custom - try out Superfeet (http://www.superfeet.com/)insoles

Take a look at "Z-Coils" they are butt ugly and sorta expensive but they are life savers if you are on your feet all day. I have 3 different pairs of them and I reccomend them. We had the Santa Photos Venue at the mall and we were on our feet from Thanksgiving till Christmas Open till close all day every day on a ppolished concrete floor. Having these shoes make a very big difference.

Superfeet worked well for me...(I too am on my feet much of the day).

I also swear by my grandpa-esque "Ecco" Track shoes. My first pair lasted 10 years.

there's a ton to consider...

I'm a huge fan of Superfeet. You can take them from shoe to shoe depending on what you're doing. A ski shop that carries running shoes and/or hiking shoes should be most knowledgable and can match your foot shape to a shoe that best fits your performance needs. They will certainly add an aftermarket footbed.
