After having a high speed roll over (4 times) in the supercharged 90 ..... and still walked away, I have divested of all Defender and moved to the dark side ....... LR3 named Titan .....

TDV6 . . . . sigh . . . you just had to tease us with that!

I'll be curious to hear how MTRs on 19-inch rims workout. It doesn't look like that leaves you much sidewall.

I sure like that roof rack - very aerodynamic without sacrificing capacity. Same for the snorkel.

Thanks for posting the pictures, and please sure to give us some field reports.

The hidden winch looks great too!

Sorry to hear about the 90, but I am glad you are ok.

Thanks for checking in

Lovely Discovery Aubrey, you've kitted it out rather nicely. Does it have all the electronic gizmos of NA spec vehicles? Oh how I wish we could get vehicles like this in the US ...

Tell us more about the rollover? So glad you walked away.

Looking forward to more pics and reports on the Discovery.

Thanks for sharing,

Jeff

congrats on carnage, survival and courage to buy another.

thats a really, really clean install on the winch, and i had to look twice to see the snorkel...good to see the bling side of a manufacturer in proper trail trim, without sacrificing the clean look of the vehicle. looking forward to the reports!

That is a great LR3 - the winch bumper looks awesome! TD, great kit - good choice. I had a great time driving an LR3 around for awhile as a loaner - I think you'll enjoy it...and how fun is it to have people sit in it for the first time while you raise and lower the suspension??

Just done a short 900 mile trip down to the coast ........ eastern sea board ..... and as luck would have it, ended up getting caught up in the heaviest rain for some time ... flooding and all. Upside is the roads turned into muddy strips and towing a 18ft RIB boat, I was amazed at the technology in the LR3. I stayed on the 4x4 info screen and the center and rear diff lock was on and off so quickly, yet it never affected the handling. Raised the suspension and went to mud/rut setting ....... never strectched, never felt busy ....... could have turned around and gone back ....really incredible.

On the TdV6 ....... had the www.turbochip.co.uk conversion done ...... power is now 230 bhp, torque is 410 ft.lbs. Towing the boat ....... 21 mph at 65 mph.

On Zulu ...... Women overtook me in the yellow line, lost control ....came back at me from side and knocked my front ... spun me 210 degrees and slid across the oncoming traffic...... I was doing about 45 mph .....went down an embankment and commenced rolling ... 4 times but stopped counting after second roll over. Roll cage did hold up well and I walked away. Zulu was totalled though.

Zulu in all his glory ...... http://mysite.mweb.co.za/residents/moorea/zulu.html

why 2 snorkel's on the D??? And I'll just come out and say it, I think you took a step back in vehicles, that D90 was sweet, and I'm a confirmed non-beliver in LR's...Although I WOULD like that diesel. And those Simex's (anybody know where we can get those in the US)

The twin snokel was to feed the air hungry super charger ...... without it I lost 50 bhp and sucked oil past the seals into the engine.

LR3 vs D90 ...... the 110 was also a great overland truck but ....

Distances to get to destinations are vast (driving 18 hours a day for a week to get there is not new ....) and with the number of drunk Africans (walking and driving), donkeys and cattle roaming the road at night ....... a recipe for disaster with 50's safety technology. As much as I love my 90's and 110's ..... I love my family more.

The issues with cattle and donkeys ....... see, we Africans don't believe in fences ...... OK, we do but some of the lazier ones remove the wire to build shacks .... so the cattle roam at will. Hitting any large animal is a bad start .....more so at night when visibility is reduced. On top of that we have game that clear 10ft fenches with ease so never a dull moment.

I had to make a call after my crash and decided my family's safety comes first.

Just back in from Zanzibar and will get a trip report up in the next week.
