They are SOLD.:)

I have two Canon G9 cameras for sale. $275 each.

Each comes with:
- 2 extra batteries, or 1 extra Canon battery
- Custom grips (http://www.kleptography.com/rf/#camera_g7g9) to make it easier to hold,
- a lensmate (http://www.lensmateonline.com/store/G9_G7.html) adapter ring to protect the lens,
- a 58mm polarizer,
- a lens cap,
- and all the factory paperwork and software.
- Nothing missing and about $125 of extras.

$275 is the lowest price I can find for this camera, on Craigslist. Most people are asking over $300.

Nothing wrong with them, we just felt a need to update to the latest G series cameras (I guess we are camera nerds :)). So these will be great deals for who ever wants it/them.

Here is a link to the Canon G9 website (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=15669).

Here is a G9 Review (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/canonG9/)

This is a stock camera

Ours look like this one from Richard Franiec. Notice the extra grip along the front edge of the camera body. The lens adapter tube is removable. Ours do not have Richard's hot-shoe filler, shown in this image.

Great deal on a pair of good cameras.

I carry a G9 on the moto most of the time. The dSLR is just to big.

The back cover shot on the Summer 2009 Overland Journal was shot with a G9...someone is gettin' a great deal!

Just what I need. All I have to do is add a WP-DC21 and I will be prepared for any adventure...

The first two people followed through, paid and the cameras were placed in the mail last evening.

I don't anticipate the sale to fall through at this point.

I am glad we were able to find a good home for these cameras, so quickly. No reason for them to collect dust on my shelf.

Thanks guys and girlfriend.:)

They are sold.

Thanks Brian, I can't wait to receive it!

Pics? I've a long way to go before I can demonstrate any competency with the G9. I will use it often and endeavor to go beyond the "auto" point and shoot mode. It will be a learning tool for me and its the right size to go with me every where.

Cheers,

You made an excellent choice then. Well done! (you can still show us pics though...we're a pretty gentle crowd...)

Indeed. You can even ask questions about ways to get the shot you have in mind.

Don't be afraid to use a tripod. It will help you slow down and allow you to adjust the settings for the photograph. Very useful in the beginning.:)

Thanks! I've often made the mistake of buying too much camera and finding it to large (and complicated) to carry around with me. That experience would result in purchasing too little camera and becoming frustrated with the limitations and time consuming menu contortions necessary to try something other than p & s. I think the G9 will be a happy compromise. I was tempted to purchase a G11, but I know I've got a long way to go before I would notice the difference.

Cheers,

That whole slowing down thing is important. I can always tell how big of a hurry I was in when I look through my old pictures...

Not only very useful in the beginning, but in the middle and in the end as well. I never go shooting w/out a tripod...even with the small camera.

I'm with you there (beginning, middle, end). I'm at about 85% on the tripod. The other 15% are just snap-shots and event photos.

USPS Priority is moving fast in the west. The camera arrived today. It was perfectly packed. The original package contained all of the software and accessories (most never used). Thanks Brian. I look forward to enjoying the camera.

I am really amazed that I missed this thread, I have been looking for a Canon G9-11 for a decent price and I would have totally jumped on this!

Finally some pics with the G9. I took the camera with me on a hunt for an "undocumented" petroglyph site. These are un-composed as I was trying to capture the petroglyph images.

Abe,
Glad to see you using it already.:wings:

Some of the subjects in your images are vertical. Try shooting all of your work as a horizontal and then as a vertical, for a while. Soon you will see which subjects need vertical.

Vertical images give a feeling of strength and power. Horizontal give a feeling of relaxation and solitude. Diagonal subjects in a vertical image feels like action and motion.

Have fun.:)

Thanks Brian,

I shot them all horizontal. Some of the petroglyphys were oddly oriented on the rocks. I'm not sure if that was due to the rocks tumbling or shifting from their original positions or not. The image of the man falling towards the spear intrigued me. If that rock did not tip over I'm not sure what the artist was trying to say. Most of the petroglyphs in this area seemed like they were done by beginners. It almost gave the impression of a "practice" area.
