Looks like a rental truck. Several companies in Namibia and SA rent those. Either Nissan or Toyota double cab pickups with 2 RT tents and all camping equipment. Nice set up!
I think they are Hardbodys in SA:

I admired the double roof top tents as well. You know what I found funny? My instant lust for driving over tame dirt roads in the middle of nowhere. Graham (cracker?), I'd like to see your Trans-Africa slideshow.

I'd love to show the slides for portal members if there is interest. My job does make me jump all over the west. Maybe we could make it work sometime. Not sure how best to organize it though. . .

:sombrero: Yeah, came to the US from South Africa when I was 13. Somehow 'cracker' got stuck to me. Kids in middle school aren't the kindest. It works on so many levels it's too funny eventhough I'm not a fan of the food.

interesting website - they sure offer a lot of pick-up choices there, including this nice 4.2L diesel patrol pick-up with a snorkle -

looks like a workhorse
and regarding the slideshow - everybody keeps mentioning in various threads how great it is - makes me want to see it too!
and "cracker" is not a bad nickname at all, at least from my point of view ;)

That truck is very popular in the AUS Outback Challenge. A sweet machine

anyone know where to get ahold of one of those tops that he had on the truck. that was a very nice set up with the side containers and storage, and looked ideal for camping ontop of.

The 1st truck with a tent on the roof is a D22 Navara.
I havent seen any stile side (pick ups) Patrols in Oz. They all come in cab chassis (flat bed tray)or wagons.
