Question:
Is it worth adding Topo Maps to a Nuvi 750 unit, or would I be better off purchasing a new GPS unit, and what unit would anyone recommend for off roading that also has good topo maps, and trail capabilities. .
Thanks in advance

I'm not sure it takes them, but you could try the free stuff at http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/ or http://www.miscjunk.org/mj/mp_main.html

Nothing like having a nuvi for city and topo use. The above links are a good start for the free stuff. Garmin topo maps will still be cheaper than a second unit.

I downloaded the maps from GPSfiledopot and working on importing a gpx file to the topo, all which is currently on my laptop. I'm being told i cannot do this on my Nuvi 255w?
I was under the impression all Nuvi's were the same with the exception of the 500.

I tried this as well on a 260W and they did not load to the unit. Not sure if I am doing somwthing wrong or if there is a compatibility issue.
Anyone successfully load these files to a 255W or 260W??

It worked for me on a Nuvi 660. Thanks for the links by the way! Have you tried putting it on a SD card first(or whatever media card they take). You may not have enough room to load straight on. I only loaded an area covering LA east to the border of AZ,NV and south to Mexico.

I have a 255W and use the Garmin Topo maps on an SD card.
Works awesome, has lots of FSR's and is able to plan/route using them. Got the card used for $50.

I have it on my nuvi 765. I like it so far. I simply load the areas that I will be travelling. Right now I have all of Southern Arizona on it. I absolutely HATE the Base Camp program for the PC that it comes with though.
