Experience with BucketBoss bags?

I'm not sure if this was supposed to go here or in the tools section, but what the hay.

I'm looking for a new setup for my grab bag and tool kit. The BucketBoss Pro gear from Expedition Exchange looks promising. Does anybody have first hand experience? Opinions and pictures if you can.

Right now I'm running a 3 drawer portable Craftsman tool box in the back of my truck and after a trip to the desert, I realize its not going to cut it for expo travel. Works great in the garage but not in the truck. I'm also running a military surplus hand bag for my recovery gear, but its getting worn and I could use something a tad bigger.

i have the original bucket boss, on a bucket for close to 20 yrs now. i still use it and it still shows no signs of tears or rips or seams coming apart, even along the top edge where i routinely use it as a table for cutting wood with a handsaw.
i bought one of there bags a few years back and its still top quality.

That's the way to go for packing tools in the vehicle, unless you enjoy hearing them rattle around in a metal box.
Have also used the bags from HD,lowes and sears for work and home, but the bucketboss line is probably the best built. I like how that one wraps everything up to prevent rattles.

I have both the bag and the tool roll. I love them and they work great with one exception. The zipper pull did break on the bag though. If memory serves me right they are also made in China.

I've used the tool roll for a while now as my primary tool case. I don't have multiple socket sets, so the ones that live in the truck, are the ones I pull out to use on other things. I am very happy with my bag. So much nicer to roll things out and see the tool I need then to dig around inside a toll bag for that one bit that fell to the bottom.

The only complaint I have is that my flexible socket strips (from McMaster) are a little longer than my tool roll so occasionally I have a socket come lose and rattle around with the bag.

I suppose one other thing I would change is to make the closures use a clip rather than needing to rethread the strap into the tightener. If it clipped and then could be tightened getting into and out of the bag would be just a tad easier.

We use them at work all the time. They hold up pretty well. My friend has had the same one for abour 8 years.

I use them all the time, for all sorts of things - I got a set of two (one big, one smaller) at one time: The big one holds all my handheld radios and accessories, the smaller one my telecom/IT tools. I also use a variety of their tool rolls, and GI tool bags and tool rolls for various tool collections.

I have a couple of actual buckets set up with bags, one is set up with electrical stuff - switches, outlets, cover plates, etc, another with plumbing parts (plastic pipe tools, glue, parts) so all I need to fix something is in the bucket. I also have the seats for the buckets so I have a place to relax.

I only use the tool rolls. Solid, durable, well sewn.
A couple for tools + 1 for cooking utensils.
Very satisfied.

X2. I have the Bucket Boss bag, roll and wrench role. The only one I don't like is the wrench role. It closes by using ties (which is really odd).

Thanks for the leathercraft tip! I'm going to go in that direction.

I can see three BB tool bags in the shop, and know I have a couple more in the truck, none of them less than 10 years old, several might be close to 20 years old. They work great, travel well, and keep your tools from rattling around.

I don't use the bag but I've been using a Bucket Boss tool roll like the one in your picture since about 2005. I got it because I went from a Ford Ranger pickup with a shell and carpet kit (that had plenty of room for a toolbox) to a Subaru Outback wagon. The toolbox was just too big for the Subaru so I went with the tool roll instead, which I got from a company called Northern Tools.

I like tool rolls, they're neat and compact, they don't rattle and they don't take up much space. I have a smaller tool roll with a velcro strap that I carry on my motorcycle.

The only downside to the BB tool roll is that the little velcro pockets at the end don't completely close (that is, even when they're "closed" they are open on the sides.) This is where I keep my sockets and they are constantly falling out whenever I open the tool roll. I'd like to find a better way to carry the sockets that would still fit inside the tool roll.

Best thing about the tool roll is that it fits neatly inside the little "storage compartment" on the right rear inside panel of my '99 4Runner.

I have several of the products, and every one is more than adequate, actually overbuilt in some cases. The Bucket Boss put on the bucket with the "seat" is my principal around-the-house tool unit, and it has shown no wear after a decade of use. And all the other stuff (tool belts, bags, etc.) has proven pretty much indestructible.

I ordered both the Bucket Boss 07004 Tool Roll and CLC 1173 Tool Roll this last summer to compare. Both are better then none at all (was using a plastic tool box).

Straps are more finicky to use, but might hold up longer then the plastic clips of the CLC. The BB attachment system is plastic, but doesn't sit as proud when rolled up. Socket pouches are good for shallow sockets only. The flap closes nicely over all the sockets so they stay secure. Lack of a flap at the roll end allows any tools that might migrate out of their spot to escape the rolled bag (those on the last portion of the roll).

There is a stretch fabric that runs down the center of the roll. This holds things in place nicely. I've seen some stretch fabric lose its stretch in time, so will see if this holds true. Plastic clips when rolled up are easy to use and adjust: clip and pull tight. Simple. Clips sit proud on the outside of the rolled back and might be more prone to damage, but time will tell. The socket holders seem designed for deep sockets only, and they are held in nicely with enough exposed to make getting them out easy. However...the flap which is designed to fold over the sockets is way short on one side and just long enough on the other. Frustrating flaw on an otherwise nice tool roll. Another really nice feature of this tool roll is the flap of material on the last section of the roll that gets rolled up. Nice touch that makes sure the last bit does not allow any tools to drop out when rolled up.

If I just has the two to choose from, which one would I pick? The CLC, even with the major flaw of the socket flap. Both stay in my rig, as one houses the 1/2" drive shallow sockets, and other the 3/8" drive deep sockets.

A few bags like the Pro Gatemouth Utility Bag, and Pro GateMouth Jr. Utility Bag are next on the agenda to assist getting storage more sorted.

I've got 2 of there bags, one at least 15 years old and the other around 10. Look great. I've also got one of these, which i like a whole lot better since it combines the idea of a bag with a tool roll

I have used one of the tool rolls for about 10 years now. It stays in the truck full time and has worn well.

Normally $16.95, but on sale for $11.41. But then Amazon took another 15% off because they are apparently having a sale on all Bucket Boss items carried directly by Amazon. Good deal but don't know how long the sale or additional discount lasts...

I don't mean to hijack, but it's along the same lines as the tool rolls. I'm looking for a couple of those flexible (silicone rubber?) socket organizers. I know I've seen pictures of them on this forum, but I can't seem to find anything about them...Any leads?
