I thought that we could use a place to put random shots of our dogs. This is Jake. We just adopted him right after I got my 06 Taco. It was one of the reasons for getting it actually. Those opening Ex. Cab doors are great.

Here's some of my pups-
The brown mutt is Chuy, the black & white mutt is Nachita, and the lab is Kona (she belongs to my brother-in-law but we "borrow" her sometimes).
They all like to wheel, camp, explore, and help me work on my trucks! I'm so proud!:luxhello:

Cool thread. My dog is a terrier/poodle mix, yeah, I know... :o :o She is a divorce dog. :shakin: She isn't a camper or a trail dog, but is a good lil girl.

Here are our dogs...
The first one is "Kai", we adopted her from the Humane Society in September '06. She is almost 6 months old and is a Lab/something small mix.
The black boy is "Miles" and we just adopted him 2 weekends ago. He was abandoned at the Vet, so we took him in as a companion to Kai. He is about 6 months too and a Lab/Rott mix.
So our family size has doubled in the last three months!!
The picture of the three dogs in the back of the 80 is my brother's Cruiser and his two dogs on the left and Kai on the right a few weeks ago.

She is a lab/pit mix that I adopted from a local no-kill agency back in Dec '03. Hands down the coolest dog ever (except when she digs up and eats the irrigation system....or digs up the plants in the back yard, drags them in through the dog door and eats them in the living room....or when she eats the walls (twice)....)

Here's Oli !
http://www.expeditionportal.com/images/albums/userpics/10006/DCP_0988.JPG
Several of you have met Oliver!
Oliver is about about 3 years old and we've had him since he was 5 weeks old and 3 pounds!
His breed is certified Coconut Retriever! We got him on the island of St. Thomas and raised him on the island of St.Croix.
An auto mechanic with an outside shop under a car-port with a dirt floor had a litter of pups. We were walking by one day, stopped to oogle over the cute puppies and he offered us one! We asked for one of the short haired males and he said to come back tomorrow. The next day he presented us with our pup who we quickly named Oliver aftet the color of his olive eyes. Oliver had been given away at 3 weeks of age and had not been fed for a week! The mechanic actually went and took the dog away from the people he had originally gifted him to and passed him on to us since he figured we would take proper care.
Oliver was given to us with a full coat of fleas and two types of stomache worms! The local vet did all the recovery work pro-bono since we had accepted the responsibility of taking care of Oliver in a community where many people were raising dogs to fight. In fact we had several people offer to buy oliver from us... we politely declined!
Before he ever saw his first tennis ball Oliver would chase coconuts on the beach and bring them back to you for another throw, funniest thing was that the coconuts were bigger than his head!

I never liked small dogs and I grew up with medium sized dogs (border collie mix and a cocker spaniel). However, my wife has always loved black pugs, having grown up with one. I got her one for her birthday about a year and a half ago.
This is Mercy...
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b247/honger01/Mercy.jpg
I've grown to love this dog as much as any big dog. She isn't yappy, she fancies herself an 85-pound dog (though only weighing 16), and most amazingly all the larger dogs seem scared of her!

Here is our dog Bruce, we got him from the Local Humane Society. He was rescued from a pound in Mexico at about 6mos. of age and brought up here (he came with the name from Mexico which I thought was pretty funny). He had a mangled deformed front leg that he wasn't useing, so they ended up raising the funds to have it amputated. We took him home about a month after his surgery. His fur was still shaved really close and you could see where the staples had been. They told us he is a whippet mix. He is super fast, you can't tell he is missing a leg when he runs.

A lot of you have already met my mentally challenged (but overloaded with heart) buddy Monty. He hates riding in the truck, but he usually likes to go camping (though those of you present on the last night of the 06 Trophy will probably beg to differ). Monty is a pure bred Yellow lab that was picked up when he was only about 9weeks old as a birthday present for eachother from my ex and I. We got him from a little old lady breeder that lived out in the middle of nowhere about halfway to the California border from Phoenix. He will be 3 years old in August. I did somehow manage to gain custody of him in the break up.......... Lucky me:rolleyes:
http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i57/Datrupr/IMG_2025.jpg
And this one I put up for Brian, just so everyone can see that Oliver has proven that a 50lb dog is actually the perfect size for a lap dog.

We've had Abo for about a year. We rescued him from the Animal Shelter here in Belen, NM; and named him after Abo Canyon near our home. His color matches the walls of the inner canyon, plus it's a neat place and he's a neat dog. We don't know anything about his breed for certain, but he sure looks like he could be Oliver's brother! Abo loves to run, loves to swim in the Rio Grande, and likes expeditions.

We got Plato at the pound when he was aprox 1.5 years old.
Best dog I've ever had.
He came to us house broken, doesn't chew anything up, is very well mannered with the kids, and loves to go exploring.
His only vices are he sheds and if you feed him before a roadtrip, you'll be wearing it.

Yep. The NPS has tightened the rules on the Jack's Fork and the Current to cut down on obnoxious behavior. Lots more visible and camoflauged law enforcement on the rivers during the weekends too.

I figured I'd post this here for the dog lovers.
When we got our Tundra we sprung for the leather interior; we plan on keepin' it for a while...But dog feet will trash the seams eventually.
My super talented SWIMPAL used the sewing machine I got her for her bday to create this extra sturdy dog seat cover for the back seat of the Access from a whole cowhide we picked up cheap.
It's anchored around the headrests and seats front and back; The flap protects the weatherstrip from sharp dog feet and the raw edge lends a bit of rustic flair.............
You can also see the rope that clips on the harness/seatbelt to keep everybody in their seats.

Here is our new pooch, His name is Boston and he is a 11 week old pug. Our other dog is a 7 year old pitbull who is not too keen on other dogs and we were a little concerned about bringing another dog into the house. There was no need to worry, they get along great and the older girl is enjoying the company. She does show her teeth to him when she has had enough but I guess thats what dogs do.

Well a few months ago our Beloved Beagle Bentley Past away after 16 faithful years. I really haven't even been able to talk about it till now. I'm getting a little choked up as I write..... Anyway after many years of traveling around with us despite his true desires of short walks around the block (a big day out in his mind) or enjoying the comfort of our plush leather sofa instead of of his own ground level 10" thick dog bed. He somehow managed to get his lazy bones up to go Canoeig, sailing, hiking (although he would sometimes go so far as to lay down and not get up, and force us to carry him out if he felt the hike was to long LOL), and what ever other crazy adventures we could get him into. Here are few of him on Our sea Pearl sailing In the Gulf of Mexico. The second is with my sisters dog Teddy (nothing better then a boat load of Beagles!!!
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b318/nullifierx/IMG_0177.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b318/nullifierx/IMG_0315.jpg
The past few months he was alive we would take him to the dog beach regularly. Although he was now to old to play with the other dogs, we would sit with him on the cool sand and love him. He loved just sitting there looking out over the water watching the other dogs play while the breeze would blow his big floppy ears back and the suns rays would warm his heart. People would come by with their puppies and talk with us about how old he was. We would tell stories of his adventures, explain that he wasn't long for this world, that our main goal was to enjoy what little time we had left with him, and thank god for sending us such a wonderful friend.
Well After 3 months we got with Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue. They set us up last wednesday with 2 Beagles Travis and Bagle (yes Bagle pronounced Bagel don't ask) Any way we couldn't make up our minds so today My wife went to their bimonthly adoption event and brought home Travis. Our new to us perfectly healthy 1 year old Beagle. He is a small little guy in comparison to Bentley. His first day today has been a long one. He rode in a trailer 25 miles to the event. My wife scooped him up and he came to the canoe shop. He met my dads dogs and my family and about 100 other customers. Then went home for a bit, met the cats and got the lay of the land. Then he came back to work and waited there after work while my wife and I went to church. We scooped him up on the way home and have just arrove. I got his crate set up he dove right in and is ready to hit the hay. Poor little guy few asleep on my lap in the truck coming home. He's probably thinking dog gone it what kind of crazies did the rescue people set me up with! Anyway he is now sound asleep on Bentleys old bed in his crate no doubt ready for what ever adventures he find himself into tomorrow. So with out any further ado Travis!

Great, long running thread. I've enjoyed checking in from time to time and seeing everybody's dogs.
Here's my tale (tail?) of two dogs. Just felt like sharing today.
The first is Wiley, he was a red/white with blue eyes Siberian Husky. A rescue dog, given to me on my 21st birthday as I was going through a long bout of physical therapy following a serious knee reconstruction. I'm sure they do the same surgery in about 30 minutes today, but it was a big deal back then. So we sort of healed each other, as he had his own issues - and had apparently been treated very roughly in his earlier life.
He was with me 15 years, we had to put him down two years ago this week - still getting choked up thinking about it. The first picture of Wiley is him in his natural element, the second is from right near the end. As you can see, he was endlessly patient with babies, puppies, kittens, bunnies - the only time the "prey instinct" ever showed itself was with squirrels, which he hated with a passion and dispatched whenever possible.
The second is Frannie. Also an adoption, primarily Golden retriever with a good dose of Australian Shepard. Frannie is currently 9, and has had two bouts with cancer, both removed via surgery. We just found out that a third lump is benign, so its a happy time in our house as we're not done with this one yet, but I'm not sure she had another major surgery in her.
One of the photos is from back in the glory days of two cruiser ownership. I love this photo, as she hates to miss a trip, but when they are both parked in the ready position she can't decide which one to get in, so she positioned herself in the middle and waited very patiently. The next photo is her obvious happiness at having made the right choice.
That's it from me.

Hehe yeah, its a major pain in the *** sometimes but i guess you get used to it. Alot of people are like "Why don't you just let her run around?!?" , "Well, she will start running to Alaska, only stopping to chase squirrels and make sure Im still frantically running after her" :)

Yeah, you get used to it, and when she's gone you'll miss it. Dogs that just stick around all the time are no challenge at all. :)

Since we brought out daughter home 18 months ago our old girl got alot older a lot quicker. I couldn't ask for a better friend, she's so pretective of my wife and daughter, it makes me proud. We found her on the freeway almost 9 years ago. Put adds in all the local papers but no one claimed her. We had two Akitas prior to her so we knew what we were in for. Shes about 13 now and still very majestic.

Thanks for the kind words. Were hoping we can get a few more out of her. But being a former vet tech, the Vet and I have an understanding that when she and I both agree that shes in to much pain from the Arthritis is to much then it will be time. Here are two pics of my little girl. I miss her very much. We got her when I was in 5th grade. She slept beside me in bed with her head on the pillow until I went off to college. For the first two weeks, I was away she would not eat and slept beside the bed. She finally started eating and but my parents said she was never the same, until I would come home on holidays. Then her health would perk up. Unfortuntaly, 5 years of me coming and going finally took too much out of her.
After our honeymoon in December we will find our new co-pilot:wings:
Her name was Holy. We got here at Christmas time and my last name is Berry, so it was natural to call her Holy Berry

The top one reminds me of our Border Collie, he likes snug spaces...like under the edge of my futon, between the wall and the crate my dog sleeps in...
and the bottom one would be my dog, not a care in the world, splatted across the sidewalk daring anyone to pass without rubbing her tummy...
seriously, great shots! Everyone I know with an adopted dog from down south say they make great pets...

Here is Oscar. He's quite the companion. I grew up with larger dogs & when my wife told me she wanted a Shi Tzu i was very Leery! Now he is basically my little buddy. Follows me around, helps me work on the truck/cars etc. He's great!
Oh yea, He LOVES apples. he will eat them whole if he can get his paws on them!

This ol girl is Samantha:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/bergferg/samantha.bmp
Parents brought her home from the pound at 9 months old, the same day she was dropped off.
She understoof commands in Spanish and English, so we are guessing her first family was spanish speaking.
Had her for over 14 years. We had to put her down the November after I left for college.
Thankfully, our neighbors got this one shortly after our's went, and she spends more time at our place than the neighbor's. She runs out to great the folks every time they are out of the house, or coming home, and still recognizes me when I come home.
My wife and I helped deliver her one and only litter of puppies, and picked our own Sierra out the night she was born.

How can you resist?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/bergferg/Sierra/P1010032.jpg
She is a Springer/Border collie mix, and the only one out of the litter with straight, dark hair.

Brettf, is that dog of yours half Chow? Black/blue/purple tongue.
Spike - good eye, but no - he's supposedly full Australian Cattle Dog... Red Heeler. Came from a shelter, so I can't verify... he could have something like that in there... He has a pink tongue, but a black spot on it... let me see if I have a pic of his tongue...
Nope, but here are a few more for no good reason:

Hah - thanks guys. Wall is very vertical up high and probably too steep to walk up/down where we are. We came in from lower right after cruising down a steep section of slickrock and rode/ran up the wall and jump-turned like in a half-pipe and continued down the slope which is where the picture was taken.
awesome pics! not sure if i posted this one yet...

Aren't herding dogs great! We have 3 chuck-its. The Jr., regular and the new designed one with rubber grip. The regular red one (in the pic) is still the best. Its lasted 5 yrs and the plastic has gotten more flexible. Indy will drag the chuck with the ball inside the cup until you throw it for him. Thanks to who ever invented the thing. :friday:

The inventor lives in Issaquah, Wa...outside of Seattle. He never sold the design, so he's been taking in all of the profit himself...and I for one have no problem with that! These things rock! We're on our 4th, 5th, and 6th ones right now...one at home, and one in each car...
