Does anyone have any experience with either the Gobi or Wild Boar roof racks? They both seem to be comparable in build quality and weight capacity. They are also "relatively" in the same price range. Just wondering who has what and what their experiences have been. Oh yeah, this would be for a 4-door.

I got the "Gobi" last August for my 09 Unlimited. The main difference I found, while analyzing, was the Gobi was much stronger in the mounting. I always have my Autohome RTT on the vehicle and it has to be strong. I use my vehicles far more then most people, therefor they are tested constantly. What I liked best was the rear frame mounting and no drilling into the thin sheet metal. The Gobi has really impressed me. My concern I found on some racks was the side to side sway in the rear. I have no movement with the tent on top. The “Wild Boar” was my second choice of the many I looked at.

I have a Gobi in my garage waiting to be installed. The build and design quality are very impressive.
I too love the frame no drill mount (although it appears I will have to modify my Expedition one rear bumper) the quick disconnects for easy removal, and it seems to hug the contours of the Jeep a little closer then other racks, which is important around here when your trying to squeeze between trees.

I have also been happy with the Gobi after hundreds of off-road miles including a trip over the Rubicon, many miles also with an ARB roof top tent fitted (150lbs.) The mounting is very clean, no drilling, and I'm told the second gen rear mounting points have two gussets to prevent deflection over time (has not been an issue for me).
I am not as familiar with the Wild Boar first hand, but I've heard their product is nice as well.

sorry to get political - that forum has banned a many good jeepers and prefer my info from jkforum.com- pretty much jk-forum admin and mods push items that have paid sponsorship and if you try to compare anything else you get banned!!!
