There are already hybrid trucks on the market. Freightliner has the M2 in hybrid form, and the cabover Hino will be/is availabe as a hybrid now.

If anything, they show more of an improvement that car hybrids. They can almost eliminate idle time (with electrically drive PTO) which can be a big part of a delivery trucks day. As a camper, it'd be great to tap into that large hi-density battery pack. Imagine being able to run a small A/C unit for a couple of days on battery power, and then turn on the truck and charge it faster than a normal alternator could.
