Well after much debating I decided to look for an XJ. It started when I went through the CAP (Chrysler Automotive Program) that I first got a itch for an XJ. I worked for a Jeep dealer and loved working on the XJ's. I was really excited about the Commander when it was rumored to go into production as it looked the closest to the XJ out of all the newer Jeep vehicles at the time. Well fast foward 3 years and here I am one child and one on the way. My Chevy can only hold three so I convinced the wife to let me buy an XJ so we didnt have to take her car everywhere. I found one that I picked up for a steal. It had a small dent on the driver side front fender, missing a fender flair. The passenger rear fender flair was coming off, there was a big scratch on the roof. Last but not least the A/C didn't work. Well I found a fender flair for 50 from keystone, 18 dollars for 2 5oz. cans of Mopar aerosol touch up paint and 1 5oz. can of Mopar clear. Then around 300 for plugs, cap, rotor, wires, valve cover gasket, serpentine belt, and 20.oz of synthetic R134. Still need gear oil, diff gaskets, some trans fluid and filter, and t-case fluid. Also could use a rear main seal and oil pan gasket. Here she is all in working order and after a weekend in the garage spending some quality time with her.

Good looking unit. Pull the ABS system when you replace the rear axle. Or use the thread at NAXJA to swap in a Dana 44 while keeping the ABS.

NV242 is an awesome transfer case. That's a keeper.
