I loved my m4, fired tens of thousands if not more rounds out of it and never had major issues with so I'd like to get one now that I'm not jumping out of planes and doing forced marches. I have a heckler and Koch that's 7.62 and figured itd be cheaper if I kept the same caliber. I was just curious if there were any major character changes between 5.56 and .308 when it came to the ar platform. I may(probably) keep it .223 just because I am so comfortable with that setup but was curious as to how any of you felt about it or if you has experience with one.

Aside from magazines? An AR pattern anything is similar. The .308 AR's have a lot fewer common parts than smaller calibers.

I notice the weight sometimes not so much in the over-all weight but mostly the barrel. Other than that it just feels like a AR with a bigger bang.

Why do you think it will be cheaper with a .308? I've always found .223 to be more affordable, but I don't reload.
