we're gonna need a lot more detail - year range, budget, model, etc etc etc. There are plenty of good deals out there, but you need to narrow things down some.

m-tav. I don't mean to be rude, but it seems like you are putting very little effort into this search and expecting a lot. I would strongly suggest sitting down and writing more than a single line about what you are looking for. The model and year range you have just given us, while an improvement over the previous "any jeep" status, still leaves us with FSJ's and XJ's, a range of engines and transfer cases from Diesel 4cyl up to 401CI V8, and a price range from $500 to $8000. Hell, with how Craigslist is these days, your search could also encompass Grands.
If you actually expect people to do your searching for you, then please tell them what to search for!

i Dont really know what to look for yet. As far as the engine goes i want atleast v6-v8 or even a straight 6 would be i dont really care about the axeles and transfer case cause i plan on doing that all my self. Nor do i care about the mileage on it like i said i plan on doing most of the motor work. Now price rang any were from $100-$800. More or less i want a fixer upper. I am not ask people to do a search for me. I was aking if someone has something laying around. One other thing i prefer it to be stock so i can make it my project. Dont really want someone half started project.

do you have any tranny preference? I'm guessing auto, but I have an nv4500 in mine. And yes, it needs a little work. Frame and tubs are solid. Fenders could be better. I-6, weber 38/38.

see i dont know to much about the tranny in jeep. I guess i would want an automatic but dont really care.

nv4500 is a 3/4 ton - 1 ton 5 speed with a granny gear.
m_tav
03-27-2010, 06:55 PM
maybe you can explain that to me in more detail. Did you put that in or is that stock?

Mtav, the caption on this pic in your album says "made our own road." Don't do that please. Do you understand that by cutting your own track across a meadow you give ammunition to the people who want to shut down access to places we'd all like to visit some day. If you don't understand what I'm saying then please don't buy a Jeep, sell whatever you used to make these tracks and take up knitting.

Yeah, the axles are the weakest part on this one. You'd probably want to get at least some dana 44's, if not ford 8.8 or 9, or dana 60. It had the weaker ba10/5 tranny the early wranglers had, and it broke, hence the never want another broken tranny of NV4500. It was put in by a shop, as well as a new t-case with it (the new tcase was as cheap as the new input shaft and labor-so...)
What's your price range? Ill be gone for a little bit.
Agree, dont make your own road (unless you own the property).
I wanted the nv4500 so I could do highway speed, and go slow and not have to spin tires (less impact).
Right now, my jeep hasnt been driven much in the last 2 years.

Yeah, that attitude is going to get you real far here. Even if it is your own land, the perception it gives is not good. Just realize that people are always looking for ways to close our public land down and random pictures like that are pure ammunition.

'89 wranger, stock axles, I-6 (4.2 liter) with weber 38/38, 2.5" lift with 1" body lift. Hard top, soft top, bikini top. hard doors, might have soft doors. 31" bfg all terrains. tuffy console. no radio. random parts. Motor has ~25k on the rebuild. Tranny and t-case are new ~30k miles ago. I'd like 4 grand as the tcase and tranny is valuable to me, but would part with as low as 3.
Honestly, listen to the other two on this thread too. I like this forum because it is so well mannered and considerate.

I have the stock auto tranny and T case. the engine I still have but it will need lots of work; was missing oil cap and had water inside it. no axles. you'll need new wiring harness as the orginal is melted and/or missing. would make a great platform to do a one ton build up and swap in a V8 and other beefy drivetrain components. the dash is gone and would be easy to fab up a flat panel dash similar to the CJ's. I still have the body mounts and bolts

I have a 1994 jeep grand cherokee 5.2L V8 that I am thinking about selling. It has a 3.5" lift tire are small but have less than 10k on them. rockers are rusting out but runs ok. It has a d30 and a d35 with an np249 full time transfer case. Let me know and I can get some pics for you if you want.

I still have the rims but would like to keep them. I would sell them but if you run one tons these rims will not work. I still have the gas tank you can have. the frame needs no work. the jeep was collateral damage in a house fire. the top of the jeep is what burnt, underneath was fine. the engine bay took some damage, mostly melted plastic and wires. the frame, tranny and T case were all untouched by flame

I just went and checked it after entering mileage and everything in it shows 2k for fair. So I figured with the lift and tires with less than 10k on them it was fair. No worries either way though.

Sure. He hasn't set a price but looking at book Values I'm guessing around 5700-6000. It's low miles, around 107K. Everything is in great shape. A couple of rock chips here and there but nothing unusual for a 12 year old vehicle.
These were taken either last year or the year before but it hasn't changed any.

Sounds like a lot but you would spend three times that to build it like it is.
RE 7.5 long Arm kit
Full Tera steering.
Detroit locker in the rear
Eaton Electric locker in the front.
Proto-fab bumpers front and rear.
Warn XD9000i winch.
Full onboard air.
Just to name a few. I think I have it sold but I'm waiting... My cousin wants it but he is waiting for some sort of settlement from the IRS so I'm not holding by breath for too long.
