I am looking to pick one up for a birthday present, the price range is 300-400 dollars, any suggestions?

They have great reviews and guides for picking out a camera.

My personal preference in that price range would be something from Canon or Panasonic. And I would stick with the MiniDV format for now as some of the other formats need to mature more.

I have looked that site over and was hoping for user info on low end Panasonics and Canons.
