This is slightly different than the "dream expedition" vehicle. Not the big off road campers & such, etc, this is more of, if you lived your life exactly exactly how you do but instead of driving a DDer or having what you have, you could have this.. Or maybe what you already have is your DDer currently?

Say you had $45 to $75G and you could either build the truck yourself or have someone build it, what truck would you use, what would it be, what features would it have..? what would you have it in? Also non USA or old body but modernized counts..

Look forward to your guys responses!

70 Series Pickup or a Diesel AEV Brute for me. I would be quite pleased with either

I thjink I would go for one of the 70 series 4WD RV's that they sell in AU.
Similar to the Blazer chalet in concept. Diesel of course.

Deck out the back as a camper. Sure, I'd use it for a daily driver.

'Course I'd need a fair amount of cash for diesel fuel. Maybe convert it to run on french fry grease and get chummy with a local Mickey D's.

Nissan Patrol GU wagon. I'd like to do all the work myself if the Handbrake could spare me.

Although that 'Cruiser A4WD Monthly built, that Camel one, sure looked mighty sweet too.

I'd build my own. Make a tube frame vehicle, solid axles, long travel coil-overs, sequential 6 speed, diesel, integrated water tanks, integrated tent and awning etc etc.

Maybe call it the 'Overland Rover'!

cheers

A nice FJ55 with a 5spd and diesel. Or a BMW 2002 with the round tail lights.
Basically old metal with a manual, and something secret...i.e. not stock under the hood.

Of course your 55 would be pretty cool too! :hehe:

hmmm ultimate expedition vehicle...? i would have to say an 85 toyota hilux double cab, with a roof rack and tent, also all the usual expedition outfittings.

85 because its a solid axel and fuel injected. already ready to go exploring!

Fj 55 or a 60. Dana axles, 5-speed tranny. Split t-case. Small lift. You know, the usual vehicle mods. Expedition gear would go in the trailer. That way I play with it on day trips.

I always thought this was a sweet setup.

Don't know if I'd need $45K~$75K for it, but you can't get more custom!

I fell in love with the old land cruisers in the Overland from england to singapore video. (nice and modernized of course) They have a TON of personality.
My other dream truck would be the truck from "kill bill"
The p@$$% wagon...
Hahaha

Vehicle

Containing only the penthouse, 2 sets of captains chairs, and a fold down rear seat bed. I would also want the diesel powered furnace and a small section of cabinets.

Yes! Blaspheme! You are lucky you corrected yourself!:shakin: I have that video on my laptop. It it too long to upload... maybe I can put it on an external USB drive and send it to somebody to upload for everyone to see.

As for my dream vehicle... I'd take a Land Rover Series 2a, possibly an 1962 109" and put it on a galvanized coil sprung ECR frame, a diesel engine, dual tanks, add AC to please the wife, and build a matching expedition trailer... oh yeah, I've thought this through...:Astrologist: I even dream about it!

I gotta admit, among others, I'd could see a spot in my "Dream Barn" for this.
Complete with .75" lift kit. Fun little article in Car and Driver. And, of course, if I'm dreaming, then its a Z06.

Mine would be a single cab Super Duty F350, diesel and auto trans. 6" of lift, cushy springs and shocks to soften the ride of a 1-ton truck. I'd use Bushwacker cutout flares and squeeze at least 38" tall Mud Grapplers under it and gear down as needed. Lockers in both axles, of course. Add a fiberglass topper with roof top tent, lots of spare fuel, water, food, my huntin' stuff, and my bestest 4-legged friend along with a satellite phone and we're set.

But in true city-boy-Super-Duty fashion, I'd have a ridiculous amount of accessory lighting in all directions.
