Since Macs went to OS X we have been pretty limited as to GPS mapping software. MacGPS Pro has been (IMO) the best solution. Now (finally!!) Karen at GPSy has released an OS X version. It is awesome software, and what we used for all navigation on our Africa trip. Good interface and the ability to calibrate your own maps (like MacGPS Pro). I have not yet tested the OS X version, but I will soon.

PS I'm not affiliated with GPSy. They did give me a free version for the Africa trip, but that was with OS 9 (running under classic in X), but I have no experience with GPSy for X.

I'll be purchasing a Macbook Pro in the coming months and this is GREAT news! I've been somewhat worried that I'd be taking a hit in functionality by going back to Mac, but more and more that doesn't look like the case.
Thanks for the link and info Graham.

This is very good news.
I however will not try it. Years ago I purchased the software. I purchased it because I was told it could do real time. It could not. I was informed that I would be informed when it was fixed. I asked for a refund and never heard from them again. Live and learn.

It can do real time now (if I understand your use of real time). But, yeah, they aren't good at communication. I had asked to be informed when the X version came out. Then asked if they were planning an X version. Got no response so I went to MacGPS Pro. Then, testing links on my new site took me to their updated page.

Yeah, it was for real-time presentation of location on the lap-top. In the end I went with the better support (MacGPSPro) and have been very happy, more than happy really.
However, competition helps drive innovation and for that I am very happy for the GPSy. The more Mac solutions that are developed helps everyone.
