A friends dog chewed my keyless remote to my 2001 XJ. Jeep dealer says $60 plus $100 to program. I found a place on line that sells them and claims to send insturctions to program it your self. Has anyone had any experience with this.
Thanks

just wait patiently with plastic bag in hand.
The battery in the remote can cause problems for the dog if not passed.

Oh he doesn't actually swallow anything. Just destroys it
I ordered a remote online for my Xterra for something like $12 and it came with the instructions. Worked perfectly since day one. $100 for programming is a rip, it is just a series of functions inside the vehicle in the right order.
Definitely save the money and order online!

Sounds like your friend owes you $160.

If you have to ask for the money question how good of a friend this person really is... Advice: don't trust them with anything important.

We program keys and remotes all the time at work...most of the time the instructions are in the owner's manual. If not, all but once I found them by Googling a bit. Its amazing how little money you have to spend for a chipped key or remote. Equally amazing is how much the dealer charges for them! I've only come across one "bad" chipped key, and it was from the dealer.

I know on my ZJ only the dealership can program it. IDK about the newer XJ's.
