Sorry if this has already been done but I was hoping some of the members would post pics of their LC's here in one thread.
Remember I am soon to be a true member ( I hope to buy an LC soon ). So help me with some inspiration.
Thanks. :safari-rig:

With the wheels, are they poweder coated or just spray painted? Did you remove the tires and take them somewhere?

Darn Jeb and his super-cool landcruiser. I think every 80 hopes to grow up like his. :26_7_2: :26_7_2: :26_7_2:
I can answer some of Jeb's questions...
His wheels are powdercoated. I don't know if he removed the tires or not.
MY wheels are painted ($20 @ the depot).
Jeb, quick question for you...Are your second row seats in? Do you have the "bed" extension for your drawers?
The first pic should be the most recent...
Rack is gone! Front is now 850J (anyone need 850's?)

Thanks! The wheels are powder coated. Put it up on Jackstands, Took the wheels down had the tires removed and took them in to a local powdercoat place, covered with dirt and 13 years worth of scum.
Came out shiny and like new.
Rattle cans work well too, I have seen some turn out very well and a whole lot cheaper than my route but I love the way they clean up and still a lot less than new rims.

Robb, you are too kind. Thank you.
Your paint job on your wheels made me wish I could go and get my powder coating $$$ back. Oh, well.
To answer your question, the second row seats are left in. I still drag friends around on occasion and I like them for organizing my clothes and stuff that needs to be easily accessible.
I opted not to get the bed extension because I was going for the Engel and it is pretty much is in there on a permanent basis.
Besides, I have that crazy tent that is always up there now.
I love the way your rig looks with the dark paint and black rims. Very nice.
And a question for you: How do you like the new J's in the front?

Nice. I couldn't make it to that bash as I was out of town for work. Yep, that shot is up at the tip of the Keewanau peninsula. One of my favorite spots.
In the nature of this thread, I've attached a few more pics. One is of my 80 pre lift near the Gallatin Canyon. The others are of my old FJ60. One stock shot when I got it and the kayak one is at the same location as the water shot of the 80.
What a great looking 60!
Sometimes when I see pics of my cruiser before all the mods I actually miss it. It is easy to forget how clean and simple they look before the character building begins. :)

Hey, that rut looks familiar. Where is that if you don't mind me asking?

It's at the fork of Iron Cyn. and EP11, about 2 miles NNE of Garlock. And yes, it is very near the Freak Kingdom!
How long exactly did it take you to do that body off frame resto on yours? Looks like it was a hell of a project.
A long time. I did not have any money so I was piecing it together out of a bunch of rusty junkers. It is nice to know every bolt in your cruiser, but it was NOT worth it. Should have just bought a southern truck, it is all rusting out again from the damn salt.
I love the 40 with the kayak trailer, makes me want to go paddling. Baja I assume? I want to go. All you losers that live out there near the mountains, the national forests the cool desert peninsula that juts out into the pacific, make sure you take advantage of them. I see these pics and get very jealous.

It's now equipped with a CDL switch, OEM hand throttle, snorkel, m12000, drawer system, sliders, dual batteries, fridge, second swing out and c02 tank :D Im done buying stuff for the cruiser for a long long time. Regarding the trailer (which was pictured near the Seri Indian village of Punta Chueca, in Sonora, where I based some of my kayak tours): It was partially custom made and partially home built. I had a pro build the frame from box-section steel, four-inch and three-by-four-inch, with an extended box-section tongue that formed sort of a spine and went all the way to the back of the trailer. I put a two-ton axle with Land Cruiser pattern hubs on it. Then my father-in-law helped me weld the superstructure, which could hold nine boats plus a bunch of gear. I used standard Thule saddles on the crosspieces. It was a stout beast and never had any problems with mainland or Baja roads. It's since morphed into a utility trailer (no superstructure and shorter tongue).

1987 fj60, 33's, tuffy lockbox, lockright in rear, engine rebuilt by a shop, then I did it again 6 months later (that was fun!). Sold my 40 to get it when the family go bigger, shouldn't have sold the 40. Still getting used to this one. Temp gauge goofiness keeps me going crazy, needs a new transfer case and p/s gearbox. Beyond that, getting to know her. Gotta love the blue!

No! Don't do it, solid color 60s look way better. The only reason the Duraback is there is because of rust, rust and more rust. It lets me cut out and weld in whatever I need at the time.

I agree to an extent. I am thinking of doing just the area between the fenders at the bottum of the door because I am an idiot and have been wheeling it without sliders and have taken some shots to the rockers. So, I am comtemplating just knocking the dents out and duracacking it or fixing them and repainting, but that seems like a lot of $ for a wheeler.
Moral of the story: get sliders before you wheel

Been gone for a while but I am glad to see you all are still posting on this thread.
I am checking out a few 80's right now and should make my purchase within a month, when I do I will post it here for all to see and critique.
Thanks

I'll share a few of mine. Pretty boring, unlocked, simple '93. But its fun.

Missing my cruisers, and realized I missed this thread originally. Really making me wish I still had an LC, although the 4runner is a great truck. Here's the only picture I have here at the office. It was a completely stock FJ62, with 33/12.50's and 235k. I sold it a year ago, and still see it driving around town. Off to Craigslist......

Some shots from a couple of weekends ago. We were checking out some local trails trying to find an access point to Wild Cat Canyon, an area that I've wanted to get to for some time now, but haven't found a driveable route into yet. It got pretty muddy in spots despite the drought we've been having this summer. Fun stuff despite having to turn around after the trail turned too narrow.

Buffelspoort Rubicon, Central Karoo, South Africa
We did the trail a few days ago. This guy in his Cruiser had a bit of an oops
We had to do a bit of a rescue and then get the water out the motor. The rescue entailed the vehicle ahead of him having to reverse about 100yards through muddy swamp to get to him.
And coincidently the vehicle ahead of him happened to be the only stock standard vehicle in the convoy. So fun was had by all
:)
