Hey I found a Toyota Chinook camper today for $500 buk and I was wondering if anyone knows about the 20r engine and the auto trans that they came with are any good? What should i look out for with those engines? going to check it out today and might grap it regardless. thanks for the help.

The 20R engine is great and my neighbor had just that setup for awhile. The engine with the auto was overwhelmed and overheated constantly in warm weather and on grades. He even installed an auxilliary trans cooler and oversized radiator to no avail.

$500 is a steal for the camper alone. If the truck is in bad shape, just
consider it a way to roll the camper around until you can find a new
chassis.

Ya wanna hear something even funnier? I got an email from a friend who had read the original post prior to you guys last replies, and they said they seen it said "former" also, thought I had read it correctly and responded jokingly correct, but apparently it was quickly and quietly edited, no biggie, :victory:

Hahahahaha - former
We've all had a good laugh - now post some more interesting Chinook pics.
I didn't realize you could pop the camper part onto another truck. I thought they were more closely coupled than that - that's really interesting.
The builds that Nook has done look great.:26_7_2:
